We have a vTech ball thing that whizzes around in their distance and encourages them to crawl. Excellent in principle, used it for both of ours although neither ever crawled. Saying that our second isn't a year yet so there's still time! But then she is very close to walking and bottom shuffles everywhere.

Try to remember that some babies just don't crawl. They work out their own style though.

Honestly don't wish it ! It's a nightmare haha .

You also cant force it .
It happens when / if .
Normal never to crawl and my dd didn't until 12 months

It's a vtech crawl and learn bright lights ball (it's very annoying when the batteries run out though!)

DS (14 months) simply point blank refused to crawl, he has the ball, a little love dog thing that moves along the floor to encourage them to follow and endless attempts of me crawling round on the floor to get him to do it. He didn't. He walked unaided at 12 months and has just started crawling at 14 months lol!

I know it sounds like a massive cliche and it's very annoying when they are all frustrated because they can't get around, but she will get there in her own time. Does she get lots of tummy time? Encourage the tummy time and make the most of her being static and unable to pull the house apart in the blink of an eye Grin

My first loved to crawl, and started around 7-8 months, and took his first steps on his first birthday. My daughter never, ever crawled. She was pulling herself up on EVERYTHING by 7 months. She was walking at 8 months, which is a nightmare! No baby that little should be walking!! She had places to go and people to see, apparently.

princessachica · 15/06/2017 15:15

Haha I think she's very lazy she always wants a cuddle

Have you got a cat?
If not you need one.

Nothing like ears and a tail for spurring on a wannabe crawler!!

princessachica · 15/06/2017 16:54

Won't the cat scratch 😂😂😂

Yup, a cat is definitely the answer. It was the biggest motivator for both DCs. As to scratching, it depends on the cat. Ours isn't the most tolerant as has been known to slap (no claws), hiss, and on a couple of occasions bite, but only with extreme provocation such as the 3yo sitting on her or the 12mo pinching her ears. She only ever goes for hand/arm that has messed with her and is much more gentle than she'd be with me! Most of the time she has the sense to move out of reach. The 3yo and cat have finally reached a point of mutual love and understanding so DD1 rarely gets mauled now.

Don't worry too much though, at 8m it is still totally normal for them not to be crawling yet, and it's very true that it's a whole new world of 'fun' once they're on the move...

Justmadeperfectflapjacks · 16/06/2017 22:31

It will move bloody sharpish and baby will be motivated to chase it!! No cat worth its salt will be caught!!

princessachica · 17/06/2017 11:49

Haha yeah and a dog will just lay there and let anything happen but cats will go
