disposable nappies - which is best?

Can anyone help. I am currently using pampers nappies - tried huggies and they are a bit on the small side compared to pampers. I am looking for cheaper nappies - they are costing me an arm and a leg. I have tried boots' but there was no shape to them and I wasn't impressed.

Any suggestions?

Sorry can't help witha cheaper option. I personally think that Pampers are the best and my experience is that you get what you pay for with nappies. I buy the Pampers bulk boxes from ASDA, which is the cheapest way to buy them...

Agree Active fit are the best, but outrageously expensive - so I mix & match with ASDAs own brand which I found were the best of the cheapos - also not impressed by Boots own brand.
HTH!

Sorry I have to disagree with this one. Whenever my dd or ds have worn Pampers nappies it's always made their bottoms really sore. I now stick with huggies.

I like Tesco's own brand (not the budget ones, I haven't tried those so I don't know what they're like). They are a far more generous fit than either H or P, IME, and the narrow tabs make them more adaptable. They also smell much nicer than P (yeuch! ). Safeway's own brand are just H rebranded, I think.

Can't help dlp using Pampers too. Tried some more eco-friendly ones and they aren't any cheaper and didn't work as well.

I have found Asda's own to be the best of the cheaper varieties. They are only ones that don't cause rash on dd's skin after night time use. However,I did always use Pampers when she was younger and her skin was more sensitive, I'm afraid. Huggies were horrid !!!

nutcracker · 11/07/2004 00:10

I always used Pampers with Dd's and found them to be the best about. I hated Huggies.
However when i had Ds he seemed to be able to wee straight out of Pampers and so i now use Huggies.
When i'm broke i use, Boots, Asda or Superdrugs own. Haven't had any major probs with any of those accept for one pack of Asda ones, where you only had to look sideways at the tabs and they fell off .

I also buy my nappies in bulk now and it does save money in the long run.

No help with cheaper alternative either. We used Pampers from birth until Dd was potty trained. Didn't get on with active Fit ones though. Once DD was about 13 or 14 months she used the Pulls Ups. We found them by far the best for us. I did use to buy the big boxes from Asda too as it did work out a bit cheaper.

Hi - can't remember how or where but I am registered with the pampers "loyalty club" or whatever they call it (just some excuse to sell my name to direct mail lists no doubt) but pampers are always sending me money off coupons which makes them a bit cheaper. In Superdrug you can get two packs of the 63 Baby Dry for £14 sometimes and then I get £2 - £3 off with the coupons on top. Maybe I registered via bounty.com which I think is run by P&G who make pampers.

Hulababy · 11/07/2004 00:54

Oh yes, of course, I forgot about that. Go to the Pampers website and register. Then every couple of months you will get sent either a £1 or £2 off voucher.

SofiaAmes · 11/07/2004 02:16

I buy the big boxes at ASDA of their own brand nappies. My dd has really sensitive skin and both pampers and huggies give her rashes. I used to use the Tesco's own brand nappies on ds until I got teed off with Tesco's and stopped shopping there.

clary · 11/07/2004 02:47

heck i just buy whatever's on offer! (eg in Boots, 2 huggies packs for £10. Also Sainsbury's and Boots own brand. Am i a bad mummy? honestly can detect no difference. Mind you also use washables some of the time so perhaps any disp seems luxurious?

Jackfrostmanson · 12/07/2004 16:14

I use washable nappies So cant really say.Although when we go out for the day I use disp.then it tends to be Safeways own Brand (not the value ones)they seem Ok

jane313 · 17/07/2004 19:13

Mine leaked a lot in tesco own brand and I found the huggies sticky tapes useless. If you tried to reposition them because of an excessive wriggly baby there was no stick left and then you had to use a new nappy! I found sainsburys own brand to be good and they have cute ducks on them. If you register for sainsburys little ones and tesco baby club you get more money off coupons for their brands and pampers and huggies. I tend to use pampers and buy in bulk.

coppertop · 17/07/2004 19:16

We use ASDA's own brand nappies too. We found that they fit ds1 & 2 better than the more expensive brands do.
