hi, pretty much as the title suggests. i've been using washable nappies for a while now with dd 6 1/2 months but have 'cheated' and used disposables for night time.

have just finished the last of the disposables and would like to go down the 'full time' washable route.

can anyone advise what they've found best for night wear, dd is only small, but feeding several times in the night so quite a heavy wetter.

What are you using at the moment?

Bamboo is the most absorbant so is ideal for nighttime - a bambineo/wambamboo with either a microfibre cloth or bamboo booster will stay reasonably slim and be very absorbant.

Wool or fleece wraps make it more breathable which is nice at night where you have the same nappy on for so long - you just have to have slightly looser pjs or it will wick and get damp.

The other popular night choices are bulky but work well - either a huggle (boostered) or a minki. The minki is good because you can stuff it with whatever you like (I tend to have a mix of microfibre and bamboo in there), but it is huge when it is all bedtimed and they look weeble-like

night cloth is easier than day as the babies don't need to be able to walk IYKWIM. I use quick flips and PUL wraps and that holds both my heavy wetters all night.

Bamboo is the way to go.

We tend to get a bit carried away...

They are all shaped nappies which I find more reliable than prefolds (although you can use your prefolds to booster them and save a few pennies )

Cappuccino · 20/03/2007 09:42

if you already have prefolds then buy some minkis and stuff them with them

will dry far faster than anything super-nighttime like tots bots

Flamesparrow · 20/03/2007 09:45

Good point - a minki stuffed with a couple of prefolds would be perfect

tibsy · 20/03/2007 13:25

thanks ladies, am off to google minkis!!!

higgles are fab for night time or perhaps a bumhugger which are very absorbant great for night time

also a wool wrap is one of the best things I've ever bought to use at night.

junkinmytrunk · 20/03/2007 17:06

of course I meant huggles

IntergalacticWalrus · 20/03/2007 17:09

I use a bumble stuffed with an extra booster for DS1, who isn't a paerticularly heavy wetter.
For DS2, who is Super Soaker 2007, I use a terry square with another terry square folded inside plus a fleece liner. He looks mahoosive in it, but it holds all his wee!

MrsWaggsnapps · 20/03/2007 18:45

You can also pad fold the terries (sim. to prefolding, they are good like this with a velcro fleece wrap - like Tots Bots fleece, for example), if you like prefolds and terries, then www.NappyNation.co.uk and www.babeco.co.uk do these in bamboo - they're about £3.50 each and are about the quickest drying way of using bamboo

littlekiwibaby · 20/03/2007 19:46

yes, I do have bamboo quick flips

Flamesparrow · 20/03/2007 20:52

Did you have to say that Lying would have been kinder to my bank balance

spacegrantham · 20/03/2007 22:52

Bumper at night stuffed with hemp booster either by ellas house , happy heiny or wonder full. and a pair of wool longies over the top. Do you know anyone who can knit you wool trousers ?
