How do you bathe your DC??

I know it sounds like an odd question, but I really want to know... I mean the actual process.
Here's why I am asking... When DS was little, he had one of those baby baths that would fit into our big bath. That way I didn't have to faff around filling up the big bath. Just filled up the small one, add soap, scrub DS with a washcloth and when done, hose him with the shower to get all the soap off.

Now that he no longer fits into the small tub, he goes directly into the big one. It takes ages to fill! So I only fill it a couple of inches so that DS has some water to sit in.. I don't actually add any soap in the water. I take a washcloth, wet it, put a few drops of soap on it and scrub DS. Then I let out all the dirty water and wash him him again to get all the soap off. I may fill the tub again if he wants to have a bit of a splash around.

While at a friend's place I saw her put her DC in a bathtub full of bubbles, let them splash around for a bit and then just took them out and wiped them. No rinsing off the soap.. No washcloth. It seemed so much easier! That got me thinking if I have been doing it wrong all this time Confused

Inputs please.

TIA Smile

I stick them in the bath with or without bubbles, stand them up to wash with body wash. Rinse them off in the water. Flannel for faces. I only rinse with fresh water (jug or shower) if I've washed their hair.

Same as everyone else. Half full bath with Johnsons bubbles, wash hair with baby shampoo, rinse with cup of bath water, take out of bath when water gets cold or they ask to get out, towel dry....

I feel a bit grubby now, but while DS (3.5) has a bath every night, it's more from a routine point of view than a scrub down one..! Blush I fill bath about 10cm deep, usually with a v small quantity of sensitive bath wash to give a few bubbles - he gets in with a ridiculous quantity of plastic toys, often pours a bucket of water over his own head or lies down in bath so it gets wet, but I only shampoo it twice a week...! I wipe his face and make sure any obvious dirt is wiped off with a flannel (grubby knees etc), sometimes get him to use the nail brush if he's been playing in mud etc - make sure his bum is clean, but then the rest is just play really...! Little people don't smell bad so I think as long as they have a quick wash then they'll be fine... Smile

Thanks for all the quick replies!
For those of you who asked how I have a bath... I never do! I always shower.. I actually don't like baths! The last time I had a bath was baout 6 months back to get my labour going for DS2 Wink

I change the water as I don't see the point of rinsing him off and then letting him sit in soapy water again Confused

I do see your point that kids actually don't get so dirty.. So I don't really need to put in all that effort! Specially now that I have 2 to bathe. I cannot wait for them to be able to shower themselves Smile

I'll try doing it differently for a few days and see how it goes.

Mine is 3.5 years old now but has been bathing in the big bath for as long as I can remember.

I currently fill it 3/4 full and he has loads of bubbles!!! I let him play for about 15 minutes then I wash him with a flannel and then wash his hair, both with the same water he's been sitting in. He then gets another 5-10 minutes play time before I just get him out and dry him with a towel.

I've always bathed him like this and thought it was pretty standard?

I have a 4 and 2 year old and just run the bath while they run about in their bedrooms. Stick them in with toys - don't usually add bubbles as dd2 has sensitive skin. It's usually only deep enough to cover to their belly buttons when sitting down so get a sponge and wash them. Flannel to wash faces. Brush dd1 teeth (dd2 does after her milk). Once a week I wash their hair using the attached shower head. Then just get them out after 5/10 mins depending on time, no washing off or fresh water!

I don't actually use soap on mine, so no rinsing off issues. They sometimes have bubbles, sometimes not.

I have a 4 and 2 year old they shower every morning where I do hair washing and a wipe down with a flannel.
They bath some evenings just for fun so it's full of bubbles and toys and I don't worry too much about scrubbing them unless they've been doing painting or grovelling around in mud.

fishfingerSarnies · 10/06/2017 08:33

I've showered with them since day one really it's quicker and easier than baths, baths are for fun.

My lo is 21 months. I fill the bath a bit with water and bubble bath. Wash him with body wash, then wet his hair using water from the tap, which rinses off his body. I then wash his hair with shampoo then rinse using water from the tap. Easy.

CowParsleyNettle · 10/06/2017 08:38

I only give me 2-3 inches (he's 2.5), he gets bubbles and he just plays around whilst I read a book in the corner.

Sometimes he gets deep baths if I forget to turn the water off.

Hair is washed most of the time but really once you get the jam off them they're pretty self cleaning.

.....he just plays around whilst I read a book in the corner.

I do this too!! Perch on a chair and read my book - it's the only real time I get a chance to!

9 month old dd HATES being bathed, so I just run a bath suitable for me and we both get in, she has the same with DP. It's the only way to get her to stop crying at bath time. I do it during the day usually as a stressed out baby isn't good at bedtime. I wish she liked baths, maybe she will in time but at the moment it's pretty horrible.
