7 week old baby boy, precious first baby and an absolute joy Smile

However.... husband and I find ourselves like ships passing in the night, I think this may be usual for this baby stage but interested in what you do / did at this stage?!

Currently -

  • Husband works so I do morning and day care, he'll usually have a morning cuddle before work while I quickly get ready/shower
  • Husband does last evening feed, then bath at awake cycle around 7-7.30pm, feed in quiet dark room and puts down in bedside cot, I then go up to bedroom to sleep/watch iPad while husband downstairs has dinner then bed later.
  • I do night feeds

So we're left with weekends as any couple time and just need to grin and bear it during the week?

Am interested in how it is / was for others at this baby stage?!

Just get through it. It's a really short time in the grand scale of things. You'll get evenings together back eventually. Just be easy on each other and don't expect too much.

D's is five months now and beginning to go to bed earlier and sleep better. We have only just started leaving him alone for an hour or so upstairs so now get a little time together. We still don't get much as I'm usually in bed pretty early and she's still sleeps on the sofa! I think the trick is just to accept it. I thought it would last forever but it's gone so quickly really and then I conceived number two after one quicky so am now 6 weeks pregnant and going to have to do it all over again!!

It will get better. Hang in there. FlowersFlowers

Thanks for the replies!

I contemplated bringing him downstairs to sleep after his bath rather than cot upstairs but by then I'm knackered and ready for bed myself (!), he doesn't go down great in his pram downstairs and we'd possibly have to disturb him to take him back upstairs with us anyway!

There is no magic solution, but well enjoy the baby snuggles while we have them! Smile
