Another potty training thread.

For a while dd seems to be a little uncomfortable in her nappy. She's familiar with the potty as she goes to nursery where I suppose she sees other children being put on a potty etc and we have one at home. Yesterday she sat on the one we have, in her trousers and said wee wee so I think she's ready.

However, unfortunately, her lovely nursery is closing and she's going to a new one at the end of April. She will know her carer as thankfully, she has a job to go to there but the nursery is much larger and has a lot more children. So, she will need to settle in but I have no doubt that she'll be fine. Also, we're going on holiday in May and i'd like to enjoy it and realx a bit.

So, my question is, should I leave it until after our holiday and try her then or am I being mean to make her wait? I suppose i'm being selfish but I don't really fancy the idea of chasing round with a potty or trying to find toilets whilst we're away.

Unless, everyone thinks it can be 'cracked' well in advance?

btw, I'm not sure if she's know when she wants to go just that she knows when she has iykwim.

I would wait if I were you. My DD is nearly 2 as well, seems like she's at a similar stage, and I'm planning on waiting until May/June to start on potty training. The weather will be warmer, so I can leave her with no nappy or trousers and she can get used to using the potty. That's the idea anyway! Don't think you're being mean, just practical. I'm sure she'll be fine using nappies for a couple more months.

Try going from a full blown nappy to nappy 'pants' & use the potty if & when she wants it. Encourage her to sit on it etc & then work up to the full potty training. I cracked the use of the potty at home before nursery, then the nursery started training & now we're trying to combine the two (harder said than done when they tell her to tell the team leader & now my DD daoesn't ask me anymore!).
All in all it's taken 6 months so I wouldn't worry too much but your DD may see pants as a reward for being a big girl - mine does anyway
