Do any of you know the song L'aigle noir de Barabara? Do you know what it means - I understand the words but wondered was the song written for a film or for someone?

My French is rubbish, but isn't it just 'The black eagle of Barabara'?

Sure it, what a strange song title!

Rhubarb · 18/03/2007 20:07

Sure is, that was meant to say, as in it is "The Black Eagle of Barbara" - perhaps it was like in the film Kez? Mebbe she had a pet eagle?

Sorry, the singer is Barbara and the song is called L'aigle noir! It maybe isn't a famous title of hers as it's on an album and was just translating it with the kids and they were asking what it was really about about. She sings that she's at the edge of a lake and a black eagle appears and it has something to do with her past I think. Thought it might be a well known classic if you are french that is, but maybe not.

Sorry - I didn't read your op properly

According to this blog, it's about her sexual abuse, at the hands of her father. This French wiki entry agrees with that.

Thanks for that, hard one to explain to the kids though.

You could claim not to know, if you (understandably) don't want to get into it?
