we were at my mums and he roams from room to room (kitchen and living room - hes 2.3).

I was sat in the kitchen and he had gone in the living (or so i thought)

about 5 mins later my sister says wheres DS1??

in the living room - i said,

she looks and hes not there

we look in the loo and hes not there

by this point i am FREAKING OUT as the previous week he had opened the front door!!

my DP runs out side - by this time the whole house (12 people) are screaming DS1s name - running round the avenue

about 3 of us run upstairs and hes in non of the rooms, by this point im hysterical

im screaming (my mums avenue is off a main road - and im just waiting to hear the most horrendous news)

i was convinced i had lost him,

i was screaming and sobbing on the landing

all sorts are going through my mind - everyones crying

and he wanders out of the bathroom - he had been hiding

i have NEVER been so relieved

i hugged him so hard becasue i seriously thought moments before i wouldnt get to again,

it was horrific,

a horrible mothers day

kitty x

little buggers are always doing things like that! Try putting front door chain on or the latch.

becklespeckle · 18/03/2007 14:36

How scary for you! Thank goodness he is okay - perhaps keep the door locked? We have to in our house or they can't resist opening it! When my DS1 was 2.7 he wandered off from outside our house (he was 'helping' DH wash the car and DH thought he had come indoors). We were just on the verge of calling the police when he trotted down the hill by the side of our house. It was the worst 10 minutes of my life and still haunts me now.

[big sigh of relief]
thank goodness he was fine...

Ds did this on holiday last easter. He was in a wardrobe. Hiding. He didn't come out even when we were screaming 'Its not funny come out if you're hiding etc...' He was 3.

Its very scary. I'm glad your ds is ok.

When dd1 was about that age, she decided to "hide" underneath a bench in a cafe where we were having lunch. Granny was outside and watched her come in the door to me, I was inside and knew she hadn't come inside the cafe.

Cafe was on top of a cliff.

After ten minutes of about 50 people looking for her, and cafe owner just about to call cliff rescue people, out popped this little head from under the bench...."Boo!"

I have never been so relieved, cross, happy, terrified.... all in one go.

I know EXACTLY how you felt, Kitty, it's bloody awful, but thank god he's ok.

frenchleave · 18/03/2007 14:47

Gosh kitty, sympathies, it's so scary, their whole little lives flash before your eyes...

My DD did a vanishing act with our neighbours' DD once, when they were 6 and 5. Neighbour popped out to collect her DS while girls were playing together in my DD's room (so we thought). Went to check on them, no one there. Rushed outside, not there either. Sent DH to search local footpaths, still nothing. Half an hour later (felt like weeks) neighbour returns, wonders what's going on. Opens door, 2 girls wander out. They'd been watching a DVD in a bedroom and neighbour hadn't heard them come in before she went out, and she'd locked them in Massive sighs of relief all round.

Scariest half hour of my entire life so far.

MadameWeb · 18/03/2007 14:54

poor thing mustve hidden because of all the shouting -he kept repeating 'was in baffwoom, was in baffwoom'

Think I nearly did. I was raging at everybody!

But the main thing is that they are safe.

steinermum · 18/03/2007 15:27

Horrible to go through that MW, especially on Mothers' Day. TG he was fine. You can torment him with it on future Mothers Days and say he needs to get you extra flowers.

littleducks · 18/03/2007 15:51

That will scare him off playing hide and seek for a little while! Glad he is ok, relax and let your heart beat normally again.

MadameWeb · 18/03/2007 19:43

right hes in bed, now i can relax!

havent been able to take my eyes off him since!
