Nearly 8months and wotsis???

My daughter is going to be 8months she has two teeth at the bottom and I am just wondering if wotsis crisps would be a nice treat for her to hold and eat her self from time to time ? Has anyone given their baby's wotsis?

Supermarkets are full of more appropriate snacks for babies!!

Most supermarkets sell more baby friendly versions though which my ds (7m) loves. They are larger and I assume healthier.

Just had a look in cupboard and we currently have

Ella's kitchen melty puffs (6m)

Organix rice cakes (7m)

Heinz baby biscuits (7m)

I don't know if they're much more unhealthy then the organix stuff. I wouldn't give them to my baby though, I hate the smell of wotsits.
A baby with wotsit breath and covered in luminous orange dust that would get everywhere is not appealing!

I'd expect most 8 month olds could manage wotsits. But I'd be concerned about whether they're suitable for an 8 month old - that sort of snack tends to be quite salty.

When I was weaning DC1 & 2, you could buy snacks in the baby aisles at supermarkets that were a similar shape and texture to wotsits, but aimed specifically at babies, so low salt, vegetable flavours and so on. More expensive than wotsits but healthier for a baby. I'd look at that kind of snack in the baby aisles instead.

100g wotsits = 1.96g salt

100g Ella's puffs = 0.01g salt

So very significantly better for your baby

One or two every now and then if others are having them would be fine, though I wouldn't buy them specifically for her. Echo pp that the Ella's puffs are a great Wotsit-shaped alternative. My DS used to go mad for them to the point that we (somewhat inappropriately, I suppose) referred to them as 'baby crack'.

My wee one loves that sort of stuff too! I get the Ella's ones as that's all that's available here but they're great. If we had Tesco I would do what you've done Smile
