Child's father won't use car seat

Does anyone have any advice for me? I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall.
My child's father (not together) won't use a car seat. I've tried EVERTHING to get him to use one. He owns one. He just parks a while away from my house and says he's using it when he isn't. Tbh there's a shed load of shit things he does and I'd love to tell him to just fuck off but I know that's probably not the best thing to do... so what do I do instead?

Sorry should have clarified that if Ds is aware of the rules and tells his dad when they're in the car that dad may be more

He wouldn't listen to DS. DS knows the car safety rules because it's something I am very hot on. His dad just palms him off and DS is a timid thing so he won't challenge him.

I've just collected him and there's now a car seat in his car, despite him not taking DS in the car since last night when he picked him up, so I can only assume it's there for show in case I report him.

I don't know his number plate but I'll get it asap and report it to the police. Though tbh I don't fancy sending my child with him again any time soon, and if I did I don't think he'd be stupid enough to drive him without a car seat for a little while.

Oh and I quizzed DS, who said he never goes in a car seat and that he only has the belt around his waist. When I explained it was dangerous he lied and said he always goes in a seat - he lied just to protect his dad. It's heartbreaking that he feels he has to do that.
