Both mine had their head out the pram looking to see behind them, so figured it was time!! They were less than 1

TwatteryFlowers · 17/05/2017 18:51

Ds from when he was was too big to fit in the flat pram. Dd faced forward from birth - I had a double buggy because of the small age gap and the only one I could afford was one where they both faced away from me.

My lo is 21 months in June and we still haven't. Dh wants to and ds would probably be happier, but I don't want to.

I prefer to be able to see him

YesILikeItToo · 17/05/2017 20:15

More sociable Iamastonished

At 6 months we went on holiday for a week and DD was in a forward facing buggy. She liked it so much that we turned her around when we got home. She's never parent faced since.

Ecureuil · 17/05/2017 20:28

Mine hasnt used the pushchair since 15 months (she walks everywhere) so I guess i don't chat to her any more than I would if she was in a forward facing buggy. I think as long as you talk to them the rest of the time it isn't going to make any difference if they're not facing you when out in the pushchair.

Thatextrainch · 17/05/2017 21:07

iamastonished so that we were looking at each other when I am talking to her.

Muddlingalongalone · 17/05/2017 21:12

DD1 around a year, she wanted to see the world. Dd2 about 18 months maybe later because she has hearing loss to help her speech. She's 2.5 now and we barely use the buggy but every now and then she asks for it to be turned round even now!

happydays00 · 17/05/2017 21:12

5 months. She has always been far more interested in nosing around than staring at me

Topseyt · 17/05/2017 21:21

Around three months old. They preferred it and so did I.

lampshadehat · 17/05/2017 21:22

Those of you who kept them facing you must have had very uncurious children. DD liked to see where she was going, not where she had been.

Er you're rude! My dd is curious she just also likes to chat!

ligersaremyfavouriteanimal · 17/05/2017 21:24

Never, I like to chat to them a lot Smile

ligersaremyfavouriteanimal · 17/05/2017 21:28

iamastonished what a silly comment. My DC are very curious, and also very articulate which maybe is due to me talking and interacting with them so much Smile

Sandsnake · 17/05/2017 21:40

Six months. He went from crying and whinging in the pushchair to loving it (he must really hate my face...Wink). At the time it was an absolute resolution and made things much easier!

Sandsnake · 17/05/2017 21:40

*revelation

happydays00 · 17/05/2017 21:49

sandsnake mine was exactly the same!! Instant success!

BertieBotts · 17/05/2017 21:52

I changed it around as and when I felt like it.

I loved having a rear facing chat. Was ace to be able to chat with him and share things with him. He had lots of things to look at!

TBH I tended to use the forward facing option to put him to sleep Grin

BertieBotts · 17/05/2017 21:53

Rear facing buggy. Though the chat was nice too!

SunEgg · 17/05/2017 21:54

Around 6 months. DS preferred looking at the world, and is still very nosey.

megletthesecond · 17/05/2017 21:54

From birth. The buggy was easier to manoeuvre without the rear facing baby seat in it. Plus they got to see the world and chat to everyone else for bit.

willconcern · 17/05/2017 21:57

I never had a parent facing buggy. My DCs always faced where they were going, buggy didn't go any other way. Is parent facing buggy a "thing" now?

AssassinatedBeauty · 17/05/2017 22:03

Yes it's been a "thing" for several years now.

Lillieslamb · 17/05/2017 22:03

Dd is still facing me at 11 months. I tried outward facing, but felt as though I talked to her less so turned it back around. We do have a cheaper buggy that only facessation outwards for when we visit family (more room in the car), which dd likes but gets a little unsettles after a while. She is very curious, but prefers to look at me I think. I also read that it's best to have them facing you until 1 year, as it can be too much sensory input otherwise (although I think this very much depends on the baby).

Lillieslamb · 17/05/2017 22:04

Only faces outwards *
