I want a new story book for my DD, something easy to follow & will keep her attention throughout but nothing that is over with too quickly. Thanks

My gs loves superworm and look and see books

Nan0second · 15/05/2017 15:55

Tiger who came to tea
Hairy mclairy
What the jackdaw saw
Each peach pear plum
Peepo
Hungry caterpillar

All these suit her rather short attention span but are a bit more complex and interesting than the flap books :)

Google "Wimmelbuch". Various available on Amazon (other retailers are available). They're German but as there is no text it doesn't matter. I grew up with Ali Mitgutsch and we have everything by Rotraut Susanne Berner. My children were obsessed with them for ages.

I agree that the Meg and Mog books are great. My little girl takes herself off into the bedroom and sits and looks through them (only 17 months old) for ages at a time. I think it is the bright colours that are the attraction.
She also likes any of the Elmer books, again I think because of the colours.

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.

Both of my daughters thoroughly enjoyed the Pip and Posy series by Axel Sheffler (who is the illustrator of the Gruffalo). They are extremely relevant to toddler life, featuring plots around sharing toys, losing balloons, fighting and making up with friends and what happens when you lose your favourite cuddly toy.

They are my absolute favourite and I love buying the whole series for close friends with toddlers. 🐰

My 23 month old LOVES the Tales from Acorn Wood books since he was tiny. When his friends come over they seem to lean towards them as well oddly. They are all flap books and all rhythm and have lots of things you can discuss on each page.

He also loves the very hungry caterpillar at the moment! Hope this helps!

My DS loved 'Calm down Boris!' at that age, that's the first one that sprung to mind.

Duck In a Truck
The Tiger Who Came to Tea
Some Dogs Do
Not Now Bernard
Charlie Cook's Favourite Book
Pigeon Pie, O My!
Hans and Matilda

Lucas the littlest lizard
Both lovely rhyming books with textured pages and cut outs.

The Bear and Hare books by Emily Gravet. Also Aunt Amelia - can't remember the author.

Iambubbles86 · 17/05/2017 20:12

Dig dig digging by Margaret mayo

Mamabear12 · 17/05/2017 20:32

The gruffalo, hungry caterpillar, 3 little pigs, red riding hood

Snuggle bunny is great, has a glove puppet attached to the back page that goes through the whole book and acts out the story... "Single bunny's tired, he'd had a busy day"

DD had You Choose by Nick Sherratt and adored it. She adored it a little too much actually and it had to live behind the wardrobe go on holiday occasionally.
