Hi. My LO is 6 months, I have loads of bambino mio prefold nappies and just can't get on with them, she always leaks out of them. I then brought a new wrap, one life, fantastic really love it and since then have got a sample of a little lamb and modern baby nappies which I think are all great. I now want to get some more but unsure what type. I want...
slim fitting,
preferably birth to potty as she is 16lbs and don't want to have to buy more later,
fairly cheap!!
I was going to buy terries but not sure I can be bothered to fold them!
I have seem the following, swaddlebees, kissaluv and Imse Vimse snap nappy which is a birth to potty and i am keen on this.
Can anyone else give me some advice please, thanks.

I've used motherease one size on dd2 since birth and altho can be bulky on a young baby they soon grow into them.
Very economical as a birth to potty system and the motherease airflow wraps are the best wrap around.

Everyone has their favourite but I like motherease for ease and basis of my nappy collection.........

altho I do have a very big collection!

The experts will be along

Another vote for MEOS, and I agree on the popper Airflow wrap, but this is not a slim fitting system. Generally birth to potty nappies aren?t slim fitting. My opinion is that you generally compromise depending on your priority: slim fitting or birth to potty.

Pocket nappies can be very slim fitting ? like Fuzzi Bunz. And they dry so quickly too. But they are not birth to potty. But the Bum Genius is a birth to potty one-piece system, and is fairly slim.

As junkinmytrunk said the experts will be along soon!

motherease are a bit boring but god they are good, and fairly slim fitting I find, wouldn't be bulky on a 16lber I don't think. I thought I'd hate them as they look so drab, but they are so good

kissaluvs (think you had those in your list) are also good, quite a bit cuter than MEOS if that matters to you and nice and slim too. They don't have a pop-in booster but I've always found them absorbent enough for DD during the day

fuzzibunz good, but the only re-usable type I have ever had leakage problems with is that sort of pocket nappy so I wouldn't have them as mainstay of collection

bumbles for night, big but who cares about a big bum at night, they'll go birth to potty unless she starts wetting a lot at night

haven't used swaddlebees but agree they look lovely

have fun (you know you can buy secondhand on nappylady, if that thought doesn't ick you out)

Flamesparrow · 14/03/2007 21:29

Wambamboo/bambineo.

Very absorbant, very slim and go up very large so a true birth to potty.

MEOS are good but they can get a bit too small at the end and then its frustrating getting something for that last bit.

Wraps - all depends on what style you like... the onelife is very similar to the motherease rikki or the new ones from Bambineo (you get those if you get a box set so you sort of end up with everything you need all in one go).

PhoenixGirl · 14/03/2007 21:30

Erm....

I'm selling 2 MEOS dry if u wanted to try some out.

jeangenie · 14/03/2007 21:32

oooh FS, should I sell off all my meos and have an excuse to get some bamboo nappies then? DD is getting quite big now (though I haven't noticed the meos getting too small, she is slimming down as she grows)....

junkinmytrunk · 14/03/2007 21:33

kissaluvs are very cute, had sosme when dd2 was younger.

I have a swaddlebbes organic velour pocket & booster which is very absorbant and trim but would work out expensive as a whole system

PhoenixGirl · 14/03/2007 21:33

Meos dry for sale

PhoenixGirl · 14/03/2007 21:35

Jeangenie thats why i want to sell my MEOS. I need new bambineos

Flamesparrow · 14/03/2007 21:38

lmao - always good to find an excuse to sell off nappies and buy new fluff

Kissaluvs - lovely little nappies but I find they aren't very absorbant compared to most others

jeangenie · 14/03/2007 21:59

well, if my nappies make it through the ebay wall of steel and I make me some money then maybe I'll be in re-investment-mode

PretendinToBeFrizbe · 14/03/2007 22:06

Hi Nikki - I hope you're not too confused.
I think that as your DD is 16lbs you could probably just buy the large or size two of most nappies. They might be a little on the large side for a little while, but it would give you a far wider choice than going for specific 'birth to potty' nappies.
I think my DS was about 17lbs when I put him in a cotton Tots size 2.
I personally, have all the nappies, and find they all suit different situations.
You could look at the Wam-Bamboo size 2, or the Bambeasy from Easy Peasy nappies or the size 2 Tots/bamboozle, or the size 2 nappy nation - which has fast-dry design.
Also Swaddlebees have a birth to potty version, but you might well get away with buying a large, as it is a very trim fitting nappy.
I don't know if you have considered buying used, but if you want to keep costs lower and try a wider variety you could try looking on Nappy Lady Classifieds (as recommended by Flame) or UKParents.co.uk or UKParents.net both have good used nappy forums another to try is Parentslounge.co.uk
I have set up a nappy blog - in a bid to gather the opinion of lots of cloth users, as there are so many nappies available now. There's a photo of my DS at the bottom with his Tots on when he was 8 months and around 17-18lbs.

maisiemog · 15/03/2007 00:17

Oh and Babybeehinds look nice, in bamboo fleece or hemp.
