prefolds v terries?

My budget allows for prefolds versus terries. I already have 4 prefolds and a wrap. are terries any better? They seem about the same price...

Also, I have one bambino mio wrap, which is great. How many wraps should I need?

Ps I do have a tumbler should i need to use it.

Come on, I know it's dull, but still...

Sorry can't help. I always used ordinary terries myself - got satisfaction out of folding them myself. Just didn't want to see your post ignored

terries much much better - don't really "get" prefolds tbh so perhaps i'm biased

only so much you can do with a prefold but terries can be folded different ways to suit night time, exploding poo, long car journeys, tight clothes..

go for the terries

Between the two, I would choose terries too - better containment, faster drying.

Wraps - about 4?

mummyhill · 14/03/2007 17:03

I would also choose terries as the containment is much better and they dry much quicker than the prefolds. We started with 5 wraps but I kind of got the bug and we have all kinds of nappies, wraps etc.

wheresthevalium · 14/03/2007 17:24

Bedtween terries and prefolds definitely terries.

Can you do yourself a real favour and stretch the budget to shaped terries? Much easier, no folding

Jelley · 14/03/2007 17:26

I used terries and got on fine with them.
I have some unused prefolds you can have free for postage if you want them (about 6 I think)

yomellamoHelly · 14/03/2007 17:32

Never tried pre-folds but love terries. Found easy to tailor to my 2 boys different needs and actually more reliable than disposables, which I wasn't expecting. Would worry about fit with pre=folds. Folding became second nature really quickly too.

colditz · 14/03/2007 17:43

Oh Jelley that's very kind of you! How much do you want for postage?

I am at colditzmum at yahoo dot co dot uk, would you mind dropping me an email?

Looks like terries is the way to go then - I have a boy so I use the boy fold anyway, but I will get hold of a few terries and see how I go - he's going back in disposable tonight, but have managed really well on cloth all day!

Great stuff colditz. give us all a yell if you need any more pointers.

Bagpuss30 · 14/03/2007 19:21

Just to agree with everyone here, I would go with terries and some motherease wraps. If you buy the rikki wraps you can also pad fold the terries as well which is practically the same as a prefold anyway.

SAHMof1 · 14/03/2007 21:23

I agree that terries have better containment than prefolds. There are some fantastic folds. You can supplement your nappy collection buying different times later (or get family/friends to buy you a nappy)

eidsvold · 17/03/2007 09:50

found terries better at containment and much quicker to dry.

I did have some prefolds I got as part of a real nappy road show thingy. I actually folded out the sides at the back and front and used them kind of like a shaped nappy. But definitely prefer terries.

MrsWaggsnapps · 17/03/2007 16:03

If you can run to it, do get a few bamboo terries as well, they are lovely and slim fitting and pack away very small (great for change bags), www.babeco.co.uk and Nappy Nation do them
