I need to leave my 4 month old DD with my MIL for the day in 2 weeks time. She is EBF and she has acceoted a Nuk bottle with freshly pumped milk in before but only several times as a test. I have never tried her with pumped milk warmed from being in the fridge for example (which I am planning to do to make sure she will accept this) and wouldn't have the first clue how much milk she would need for around a 7-8 hour daytime period as I just feed her on demand and some days she feeds more than others etc.

My dd took 12oz in 4 hours when I left her for the first time. It took me a while to build your that. I had a bank of milk in the freezer and defrosted it the night before.

Had she ever had defrosted milk before? I'm worried my DD won't take i.

I think it's common for bf babies who don't take ebm/formula from their mum to take it when away they are smart little survivalists in my experience especially at 4 months they still run on mostly instinct if she is hungry she will eat.

I never bf but when ds gets a bottle at night dp gives him it lying down in his cot them swaps for the dummy and leaves with me he won't do that he wants picked up and snuggled/fed to sleep. He also falls asleep in he travel cot at my sisters and mil but won't do it at home. They really are flexable honestly she will be fine and no doubt loved and pampered.

Nope but she was fine. Mil warmed it first. However, dd had a dream feed of ebm every day from 3 weeks so was well used to the bottle.

Thankyou for the re assurance. I will have to get pumping then!! My DD is nearly 16lbs already and loves her milk so I bet I will need at least 20oz! How did you give the milk to MIL whatsername? did you decant it into sterilised bottles after defrosting? Sorry to sound silly I just haven't done any of it before! Blush

I took my steriliser and 3 bottles. The milk was in storage containers that I'd used to store it in the freezer. I think mil got through a lot of milk because they fed her every time she murmured to be honest.

Thankyou, my MIL wouldn't do that I don't think so would probably get through less milk but I will pump quite a bit anyway just to be safe, thanks for your advice!
