My baby 7 days old today and I can't stop crying and thinking that I'm going to be rubbish and not know what she wants when she cries as sometimes I don't, and I'm scared for when hubby goes to work how can I cope with feeding and changing I'm just a wreck

Oh bless you please don't cry. This will be my 3rd & even I sit & think sometimes what if I've forgotten everything!!

I think unless it's something obvious like feeding time then you just have to try everything! Sometimes they don't really want anything other than to be held & if the crying gets too much, sitting & holding them is ok, don't let people tell you it's not. Anything to keep you calm & sake I say

These first few weeks are seriously hard but you will find your groove as time goes on. Please don't think you're rubbish. Babies don't come with instructions and there is no right or wrong way to do things. I never knew what the cries meant, they all sounded the same in my opinion! I found it was either hunger, tired, needs changing, or just generally a bit freaked out with this new world and wants cuddles. So it's a process of elimination, just work trough these things and as long baby is fed and changed and getting sleep you're doing brilliantly! How long does your hubby have off work? Will you be able to get help from anyone else when he goes back? I recommend you talk to your midwife / health visitor about how you're feeling. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh bless you. It's all so new & so hard trying to cope with everything on (what I assume) is very little sleep. The thing that got me through the tough times was thinking they've just spent 9 months all cosy in you & there is so much going on & like jon said sometimes they just want a cuddle with mummy. You are everything she needs. As for crying - completely 100% normal bloody hormones
