Weaning - can you use cows milk for baby porridge/rice?

Looking for some advice from breastfeeding mums out there – should you use breastmilk/formula milk only for making up porridge/rice for weaning or is it fine to use cows milk? I always thought fine to use cows milk for making up food after 6 months but health visitor is saying I should use breastmilk/formula only.
Can cows milk only be used to prepare food where the milk will be cooked through eg cauliflower cheese?

You can use cows milk for making up food from 6 months.

Scroll down to the What milk, when? section.

I don't know why your HV is giving that advice, cows milk is fine used in food from 6 months. This page from the NHS says just that, buried in the section called "Should I keep giving milk feeds?"

This page also talks about cows milk being fine from 6 months in things like cheese sauce and custard.

There's no need to cook cows milk through, you can use it as is. You're just not supposed to give it as a main drink until they're 12 months. I think I'd ask the HV why she's contradicting that advice.
