When would you leave your child?

My 6 year old has been invited on quite a few play dates now and she's happy to be left as long as it's with friends and I am happy to leave her. She has 3 close friends and they all tend to be invited together. Most of her friends and parents seem to be the same. I have other younger children so this suits me well. My dilemma is one of the parents always stays. I have so much to do. I work full time - I don't have time for 3 hours of coffees. How can I make it clear if I invite all the children to me that the mum isn't really welcome? I know it drives other people mad too!! I don't want to seem mean!

If it normally after school? If so can you offer to pick up from school?

I guess the solution depends on whether a) she just enjoys chatting/socialising or b) she doesn't feel comfortable leaving her child.

I would suggest rather than trying to say that mums aren't welcome, you mention in advance that while the kids are playing you will be doing x y z while checking from time to time.
If she just likes chatting hopefully she will take the hint and drop child. If she doesn't want to leave child then maybe she can sit somewhere drinking coffee (or maybe help with supervising the kids, or with your younger children) while you get on with your jobs rather than feeling you have to entertain her. Would that work?
