they are a stuffable pocket nappy. they a generally fleece with a pocket whihc you can stuff with any thing in advance, i've used various things inc micrfibre clothes which are thin but absorbant.

i love mine, although not using them at the mo because have no washing machine! but you can make them all up in advance and then just put them on like an all in one, then for washing remove the middle stuffing and wash and dry then reassemble.

makesachange · 10/03/2007 17:14

I tried one once but the fleece wicked from inner to outer. Anyone else had this problem?

CarGirl · 10/03/2007 17:17

with stuffables you hve to make sure the inserts go right up to the edges internally - so the wee can't go straight thru missing the absorbant inner. I think minki has a technique on her website.

I didn't get on with stuffies when I tried them as my dd was a power wee'r and big to boot.

Never had a problem - I have a standard minki that I use at night, its huge but works perfectly.

I love it and keep threatening a slinki

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 17:19

Oh I stuff it with the 2 microfibre boosters I got with it, plus a kissaluv usually to cover power night weeing

TrinityRhino · 10/03/2007 17:23

I'm still confused

Flame on your site you sell a slinki minki for £10.99

What do you get for that, just the nappy bit or just the liner, help a nappy dunce to understand

Oh sorry - that was one of the first things I added and is still on my "to be refined" list Gimme a sec

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 17:27

It needs an insert on top - that is £6.75 for hemp ones or £5.40 for microfibre.

or a bamboo one at £4.75. All of those are suitable for daytimes - you will need to double up, or put a muslin in or microfibre cloths etc for extra night boosting.

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 17:28

That will be tonight's job

TrinityRhino · 10/03/2007 17:31

ok so could you compare one to what I use at the mo?
I have a tots bot and a wacky wrap(as you know ) and then I put in a liner/booster.

So is a minki just the wrap part and the insert you speak of is the tots bot bit?

or is the minki the tots bot and wrap in one and the insert you speak of is like the liner/booster bit I add to mine

Oh poop, I've closed your site and can't find the link

Link me please

bumfluff

Picture it like your wackywrap, with the fleece inside and out, and a hole in the top at the back where the elastic is.

You push the tots (or equivalent insert) inside the two layers of fleece, and then just do the whole lot up.

Did that make sense?

TrinityRhino · 10/03/2007 17:38

I know I'm really annoying and nappy retarded but HELP ME

OP posts:
TrinityRhino · 10/03/2007 17:40

Flamesparrow · 10/03/2007 17:50

Oh boosters aren't all added yet - if you email me bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com I can sort it out with you if you want them

makesachange · 11/03/2007 17:43

Flame, what are the Minki microterry boosters like compared to Swaddlebees?

Flamesparrow · 11/03/2007 21:33

I have just been sat here trying to work out what inserts I do have for my minki... It came with straight inserts that I can't seem to find on any websites (minki ones are shaped), which is why I am going for the swaddlebees ones from now on for sales

That doesn't help you in the slightest!!

Hoping that this is just where I am doped up on cold meds, and not that I am losing my mind

makesachange · 11/03/2007 22:55

OK I will try to source a gen-u-yne Minki one and see how well it works, not they've stopped making the blasted shaped MT SB ones

Flamesparrow · 11/03/2007 23:59

I was wondering about that - are they actually going to be starting making again or is it just a delay?!

makesachange · 12/03/2007 21:20

I have an idea for that (ask Cathy - or tell her that my idea was a good one - she'll know what you mean and tell you)

Flamesparrow · 12/03/2007 21:59

Have emailed... she is going to think we're both insane Email went along the lines of: "Been talking inserts with Emma... I'm all for her idea - what is it?"

maisiemog · 12/03/2007 22:25

Trinity - so by now you know they are pocket nappies.
I just thought I would add...
The (Standard) Minki is used by loads of people for nights - I do think they are a bit bulky for days because of the extra layer of fleece.
As Flame said Standard Minkis are huuge and go quite far up the baby's back, so at night the baby looks like a bee-bum.
The Slinki Minki is lower cut and has a smaller waist, I have found that even on my skinny little boy the waist is very trim - and the velcro rubs a bit because it isn't attached all the way round.
I still think slinkis are bulky, again because of the fleece, but there seem to be other types on Ebay, plus nappy lady has a PUL verion in white, which I think would be slimmer fitting.
I find them quite difficult to stuff because the opening is pretty tightly elasticated.
The velcro is a bit annoying too, it doesn't or didn't have fold-back laundry tabs, so it basically rips all your other nappies to bits in the washing machine, unless you have the presence of mind to re-fasten the waist as it if were still on the baby. (that makes more sense in my head than it will to you reading it sorry.
I hope that helps a bit.
There's a lovely picture of a little girl (15 months) wearing a large slinki minki on my blog

maisiemog · 12/03/2007 22:26

Flame - those Woollywraps snap wraps are gorgeous!! Do the look lovely on???

Flamesparrow · 12/03/2007 22:33

I've not tried the snap ones yet My budget has stretched to the longies, shorties and pull on pants. The snaps really do look gorgeous (and do in the photos I've seen on various forums), but I just can't justify another wool wrap
