Good for you

Well a good place to start is the Real Nappy Week website which is here:

www.wen.org.uk/rnw/index.htm

What are your local council doing? Perhaps you can join with them on an exhibit or something?

As it's so close, you might just consider printing out some of the leaflets and posters from their website and asking shops and places to display them during RNW?

Is there an ante-natal class running during the week you can do a demo at?

Anything I can help with let me know just email me via www.makesachange.co.uk

We're doing a show in East Yorkshire with a nappy fashion show, etc etc, should be fun

cheers makeachange- our council are less than useless- their support of real nappies consists of a very dodgy and uninspiring pack of three (useless!) nappies sent from the nappy lady, but thats a bit of a sore point as i've recently had arguements with them about handing the contract to a local business!!! (but apparently we are too new to handle the volume of orders- ffs!)

So they are doing nothing- i'm just about to festoon the shop windows with nappies! I already do the ante-natal classes and have arranged a nappuchino mid week and will run a few competitions to win bits and bobs in the hope that once tried they will come back for more- oh and Suki from Clwt-twt lives about 4 miles away so hopefully she's going to introduce the locals to her lovely nappies!!!
But other than that i can't think of anything else- they are so stuck in their ways up here its unbelievable, am i the only one who gets frustrated with young girls physically turning their noses up at having to put any effort into keeping the environment safe for their kids!

Right rant over i'm going to construct an indoor washing line!

NT - the times they are a-changing, and people are becoming more and more aware of what's important. You're doing a great job

Are you getting the new Bambineo shop boxes into your shop?

Not a lot because I didn't get organised in time I was poddling along planning stuff, then realised that I was actually at the end of Feb rather than the end of Jan like I had been thinking

Should be in the local paper, but other than that, have nothing sorted

makesachange · 09/03/2007 13:28

Don't worry too much Flame... it's the long term, constant bits and pieces which matter most. If you think about it, although RNW is reeeeally important as a concept, you want to be catching parents on an ongoing basis just at the time when they're receptive which for different people is all year round.

For instance, you can do a big RN think but someone who is going to conceive next month won't take much notice as it's not just at that moment relevant to HER. So, do another thing next month, and the month after, and when they are receptive they'll have subconsciously seen you before, and may just think ah - real nappies - now there's a thought - oh and look here's someone helpful, to boot.

Flamesparrow · 09/03/2007 13:32

lol good point. I need to get out doing proper demos... I know I've been saying that for months - bloody useless

AbominableSnowMum · 09/03/2007 13:36

Oh - I would love to do something at my antinatal (tis Jilly here). But the only nappies I have at them moment are bamboozles that are too small for DD now, and some really ropey Kushies that we are surviving in until I can afford to buy more bamboo.

Our local council are useless too. The only thing they offer is that you can buy bambino mio pack from them for £240 at £20 per month. I didn't want prefolds, and you can buy the pack cheaper on ebay ffs.

Any idea how I would find someone to do a nappuccino in my area? Even if it isn't for next week, I would like to arrange it.

Mean postnatal

makesachange- going to get this week over and done with and then was going to get in touch with you about the bambineos!

I contacted the local lollipop rep to see if she wanted to come in on one with me. She fired loads of questions at me, I realised I had organised sod all and told her I'd get back to her

Where are you? There might be one on here that would play?

AbominableSnowMum · 09/03/2007 13:41
