I used to do it with mine, let them watch a bit of tv for a bit. Can't now, since the babies need supervision so I have to get up. The other alternative is to let him sit in bed with a book or two.

I think it is OK personally. My 6yo doesn't but then he doesn't get up until 7. But at weekends he gets up, goes to the loo and then goes and plays quietly in his bedroom. Would be idyllic if I didn't have 2yo DD yelling from the other direction "mummy my light come on, mummy I need a wee".

LilyLoo · 07/03/2007 09:22

He was just watching tv and had got himself some fruit. He is quite sensible so am sure he wouldn't do anything silly and my DD will stay in bed so she in much better mood today as hasn't been woken by him playing in bedroom.

My DD was getting up on her own from about age 3 I think. I used to leave cereal out in a covered bowl for her. Admittedly, my bedroom was a mezzanine above the living room so I could hear her.

DD is 5 and when she gets up before me on a weekend she comes down stairs and switches the tv on, helps herself to a yoghurt out of the fridge and puts a blanket over herself and sits on the sofa

Mine are up at 6.30 am every day. They either play in their romm, or go downstairs and put cbeebies on.
DS1 is 6 and very sensible.
they come a nd get me at 7am, who needs an alarm clock?
