Cot bumper

Hi looking for bumpers for cot and have seen inflatable ones or mesh ones what's best!?

Cot bumpers can be really dangerous. I'd suggest looking at breathable ones instead like the safe dreams cot wrap.

No bumper is safest! But the time bany can move around they are really dangerous and can and have killed children! I had one as part of my cot bedding set bit as soon as I realised how dangerous it was it came right off.

Agree no bumper is safest. My DS sleeps in grow bags and will sometimes put his arm through the slats of the cot so when I see it I'll pop his arm back through.

He's only just started sleeping in a cotbed (crib before) so I think he likes being up against the bars so it doesn't feel as big

Bumpers are dangerous. Not sure why they still sell them . No bumpers or toys in cots when mine were babies.

I agree with the others- no bumpers are best. My daughter is 2 and will sometimes put her arms and legs through the cot but they have never got stuck and if she ever bangs herself on the cot it always sounds worse than it is because the wood is really soft and she has never hurt herself.

My mum used bumpers in both the crib and the cot with all 3 of us. I also used them in the crib and cot with my lo, and will do next time as well.
As long as they are securely fastened, I don't see the problem. My lo never pulled it over himself, and was unable to untie it.

Kel if you read the story on the link I posted the cot ties were securely fastened for the little boy who died. Very tragic story that really highlights the risks.

No bumper here either, just wouldn't risk it.

I can't understand why anyone would take the risk. Not necessary at all. My dd occasionally bumps into the rails or sticks a limb through but never gets hurt.

Quite frankly, I'd rather a hurt leg then a dead child.

We used the air wrap breathable one. DD used to fling her arms out a lot in her sleep and would wake herself up by battering her knuckles off the bars.

No bumper. A little bump on the bars is survivable but strangulation is not.

No bumpers. Didn't with my first 20 years ago and haven't with my 7 week old now.

I don't get why people worry about arms and legs getting stuck when these aren't going to kill a baby. Strangulation or suffocation on cot bumpers could kill a baby so it makes no sense.
