Stuffable nappies - advice please!

I'm expecting another baby in September, and want to re-use my cloth nappies. Last time we used a combination of pre-folds (Cotton Bottoms) and Motherease One Size. I'm planning to use the Motherease again (these were the best by far), and will buy some smaller wraps to fit a newborn, but I would like to re-use my pre-folds too. The pre-fold wraps I had started leaking a bit towards the end of their life (and had more of a tendency to leak anyway), so I'll need new ones, and was wondering about stuffable wraps. Can you use a pre-fold as the 'stuffing' for one of these? How efficient are they, and what sort would you recommend? How bulky are they (not really an issue, just curious). I've looked at various websites, but first-hand experience is always helpful. Many thanks.

sringbean, your prefolds will be just as efficient as if you were using them in your old wraps- you can use anything to stuff a nappy, and the absorbency depends on the fabric. I think microfibre is the most absorbent, but hemp is really absorbent, too.

As an aside, apparently Nature Babies have the copyright on the word "Stuffable" to describe a nappy! There was a huge hoo-haa about this on another site, as they had threatened to sue a WAHM for describing her nappies as "stuffable". The upshot was, that most nappies that can be stuffed are now called "pocket" nappies.

As for which I recommend- well, I haven't any Nature Babies, and after that nonsense, I'm not inclined to line their pockets! I have some Fuzzi Bunz, some Little Chicks and a Minki. The Fuzzis are popper fastening, but very adjustable. They are very slim fitting, and dry very quickly when washed. They only come in white or a limited range of fairly boring colours though. Little Chicks and Minkis can be anything you want them to be- we have some really funky designs. Little Chicks fit my dd best, but on her tend to "wick" a bit between the legs. Minkis are very generous size-wise.

Thanks Tissy - I hadn't come across either of these types of nappy. Thanks for the copyright warning too - I'd better be careful in future!

Stringbean! - i highly highly recommend fuzzis! they are fantastic, i used them from 1 year to recently potty trained for my dd! they do come in more exciting colours! then you would think, recently bought a bright orange one!. They are very slim fitting, the micro inserts are very absorbant, they dry incredibley fast and they look fantastic after a year and a half of use... dd's petite toddler size ones still look brand new... take a look here for all the different colours you can get ...

they get my definite vote!!! by the way just bought some lovely blue and turqouise ones for ds!
