Newborn highchairs

I'm looking for a high chair suitable from birth. I was originally looking at the ickle bubba orb but have seen a lot of poor reviews. Am now looking at the Chicco Polly Progress and the Bloom Fresco. Any recommendations? Either these or others?

'as I have 2 dogs so need her elevated'.
Sorry but that did sound like you wanted her up out the way of the dogs so you could leave her.

Glad I was wrong.

You won't need a bounce chair or a chair in each floor. Babies need tummy up and time laying in their backs with the ability to wriggle. Get a play gym and shut the dogs out of that room for a bit and /or look at getting a sling.

My in-laws have dogs and we used a chicco chair which was very handy. It's an old one so the model has been updated but this would be the equivalent if you bought one new - www.amazon.co.uk/Chicco-Polly-Magic-Newborn-Highchair/dp/B00R7DNWBW

Get rid of the dogs then, surely baby comes first?

My sister had a reclining seat that attached to a normal dinning chair! It looked really comfy!

  1. That's a serious overreaction!

We have a Tripp Trapp with the newborn insert too. We haven't used it much so far as the baby (3 mo) seems to prefer the bouncer which can be fastened in a second. With the Tripp Trapp being high up you obviously need to fasten it properly which takes longer and so I've been too lazy to fasten her in if she's only going to want to come out in a few minutes! We'll probably start using it more now she's showing more interest in what's going on around her and is happy to sit alone for a bit.

So while I would say it's a good chair, just bear in mind your baby might not want to stay in it for long at the beginning!

We're using the iCandy Mi chair, it's quite pricey but well worth it. You can attach the newborn chair onto the high chair so your baby is off the ground, baby's nearly 4 months and it's nice to have her at a height where she can watch me cook or eat our dinner.

Ah ok what the op is saying makes sense now. I had visions of weaning newborns!

Fwiw I don't think it came across as you were going to leave the baby with the dogs, it does make sense to have it elevated though.

We had a Beaba Up and Down, it's a rocker but it's up high out of the way of dogs. Would that be suitable?

We had a Bloom Fresco for a while and it was terrible to clean. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 07/03/2017 20:21

Playpen or travel cot could be a solution?

Mouthfulofquiz · 07/03/2017 20:29

We have used the stokke Tripp trap with newborn attachment for three kids and it's excellent. Mine loved being up close to me while I was cooking etc and had little naps in it from time to time. It was expensive but has been used every single day for each baby until 5 or 6 months.

FourKidsNotCrazyYet · 07/03/2017 20:32

We had the Chicago one. It was brilliant. For those asking why you need one from birth, we have three large dogs and three older boisterous children. Being up Higher was really good. I felt so much better than putting him in a low bouncer of a bouncer on the table.

Ilovewillow · 07/03/2017 20:32

We had a Trip Trapp with the newborn insert although we didn't use it until our son was circa 4 months so he sat to the table or in the kitchen in it to be with the rest of us. We didn't use it for feeding though. He seemed to enjoy it and it sold really well when we finished with it!
