CCLD NVQ3

I'm doing this, I'm on what's meant to be a rolling course of around 2 years, we do a saturday a month and a lot of work at home.

I've missed a number of study days due to maternity and have gone back - the tutor has changed it slightly she said the 'rolling' wasn't working and at the end of the year they're finishing our group. Another one is starting up locally in May (well I say local it's about an hour away)

She says though as I do a lot of my work at home, she feels with her visits (she's my assessor) I could easily complete all the units over the next few months to a high standard.

I feel a bit worried though - out of 17 study days I've attended 6! She says I could join the next group but she doesn't see the point, as she feels my understanding of the work is higher than the level it's taught at - eg one study day covers a lot of the units/standards, but is based on babies - as a mother of two, and a CM who has cared for babies I know a lot about the topic. This course isn't a normal college NVQ it's from a company. The course was actually written for nursery/preschool staff (who mostly don't have kids themselves - not that I'm saying that's a bad thing!), and have only worked at the nursery for say a year, and I've had to adapt a lot of things to cover my work.

I don't know really why it's worrying me so much, I know it'll be a lot of work over the next few months but it sounds very odd.

I'd write a letter to the tutor explaining your concerns and agreeing to the change "on her advise"

I would also ask what facilities are in place to cover any work that you don't complete in time

MY DH & 2 employees are doing CCLD atm so throw anything my way & I'll do my best to field it for you (however my descriptions aren't always good)

Hi Lunavix.

Who is your training provider? I did mine through a company too, not a college and we were actively encouraged to attend study days regardless of how well we grasped the subject basically because to qualify you need so many 'taught' hours.

lou - smart?

Well that's what I was told too. Argh.

I do this course with a college so slightly different but they have a workshop every fortnight and I haven't been to one (thankfully they are optional) as I work when they are on.

If you dont finish by may can you enrol on the other one and not physically attend? Ask your assessor if this would be an option if you didn't get the work completed.

I'm doing the CCLD 3 from home with BTAC and have had no problems
