I have been thinking about this for a while, but don't know anyone who has done an online diploma or similar.

Does anyone have any recommendations or advice?

TIA

The Open University has a range of courses you can do and work towards a degree in social work.

Thanks Scribble.

Have you done it? I'm wondering about the time commitment and how to decide which course to do...

No I am doing other courses I have just spent so long faffing about on the site I knew they did this course.

At level 1 and 2 you have to do the set courses so no deciding there. But good thing is once you have done the first course you can change direction if you decide not to do social work and go for another career, goo thing is that it is flexible.

The level 1 courses start in Oct the Jan, so you could try one of 10 point courses that start in June and are shorter.They are good if you are new to studying or just want to try it out.

10pts = 6-8 hours per week over 20 weeks
30pts = 8 hours per week over 9 months
60pts = 16 hours per week over 9 months

Diploma in Health and Social Welfare another direction to go after level 1, or you could end up doing a course in Geology, as I said it is flexible .

Thanks Skribble - I'll have a good look at the OU site. It always seemed so complicated but you explained it really well, thank you!
