Nappy pins.

Just wondering if anyone else uses nappy pins on an older toddler ?

My son is still in terries at nearly 4yrs old and although I've tried nippas I much prefer to use pins. Luckily they dont bother him but I do sometimes wonder if he tries to undo them when wearing his nappy overnight.

Is anyone else using them at this age ? does your toddler undo them ?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Proper nappy pins with lockable heads should be OK. How can your son get to them to undo them anyway. Presumably he wears something over the nappy, which would make it more difficult for him to do it? Have you found a nappy pin open in the morning, or when you change the nappy? I have had no problems with nappy pins and prefer them to nippas.

My son will be 4 in August. In the last two or three weeks he has become potty trained during the day. However, he is still in nappies at night. I have to put him in two terries with plastic pants over the top, because he is such a heavy wetter. He sleeps right through the night and wakes up soaking. I also use traditional nappy pins, as I can't get on with nippas. I don't have any problems with him trying to undo the pins, because he just goes off to sleep, and the lockable heads should prevent it anyway. However, when my son was smaller, he was sometimes very fidgety, and would often clutch himself or try taking his nappy off. To prevent this, I used to put him in vests with poppers along the crotch, but I don't think you can get them large enough for a 4 year old. Anyway, if your son also wears plastic pants over his nappy, or a similar covering, as well as perhaps pyjamas over that, he should'nt be able to undo his nappy pins overnight. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The pins I use are the old fashioned metal top ones which seem a lot better then the cheap plastic ones usually seen today. Thankfully they dont seem to bother him and he hasnt yet tried to figure out how they open so i'll stick with them for the time being.

As for using 2 terries at once I also find it necessary to do that, I pad fold one inside a kite folded outer one. It does mean his nappy can be rather bulky but with simple plastic pants over the top we never get any leaks :-)

Hi, toastee. I'd be interested to know whether you are making any attempts to potty train your son? Mine is nearly 4 and still in nappies at night, and a particularly heavy wetter at that. He shows absolutely no interest, and does not seem bothered with a soaking nappy in the morning. I'm not overly worried, but my MIL gives be a lot of grief, saying that at 3+ he should be out of nappies full time, although lots of friends children are'nt. Any advice would be appreciated!
