Can anyone simplify this for me? I just can't get it to work. Have followed the instructions on Nappy Lady and Kittykins but still get stuck-I've seen people do it so know its easy once you know how!

Try the kite fold. I think it's the best!

maveta · 01/03/2007 14:48

Oh God me either! Can´t figure it out at all! I get lost on about the 3rd instruction involving holding down corners and folding out. What does it all mean??!

claireybee · 01/03/2007 15:02

I've used the kite fold and agree its good but am getting obsessive about the fact that i cant do the other one!

Can you get someone to demonstrate it for you? If you watch how it's done, it's not too difficult. My dd used to fold them for me when she was 6yo. For me, it's by far the best fold

claireybee · 01/03/2007 15:42

Hmmm, I'll see if my mum knows that one. Think she used to use the kite on us though

Just went to see if anyone had put a demo video on you tube but no luck!

claireybee · 02/03/2007 13:45

Hmm well i got it to work (i think) by not folding it into quarters like it says to on kittykins etc-just folding in half then doing the triangle step from there...seemed very small though

Does anyone know where you can buy a video demonstating how to fold and change a terry nappy?

tassis · 02/03/2007 15:11

ooooh, this is the fold I do

now where do you get stuck?

you fold into quarters, so fold bottom up and then right bit across

then take the top left corner (one layer of fabric only) and pull it across to the right to make the triangle bit

then turn the entire nappy over (so what's on top's now underneath)

then fold the square bit over twice to make the pad shape bit for the middle

oh dear is that any clearer? maybe not... I could try again.

it's a great fold and I've used it on and off on dd from birth to now at a slim 5.5 months

maveta · 02/03/2007 16:44

I don't have a muslin in front of me to try this out but I think I get confused at step 2. How do you pull that corner down to make the triangle without it all unravelling??

staceym11 · 02/03/2007 17:42

was gunna suggest looking at this as it has pictures of the folds for you to look at!

staceym11 · 02/03/2007 17:43

th origami one is on page 9!

tassis · 02/03/2007 17:43

yes, that's the only tricky bit really...you pull the corner across from the left to the right and it ends up a triangle with a square under the left hand side

sorry i'm not explaining v well...have another look at the nappy lady pics

honestly it's really easy!

it's the only fold I can do!

maveta · 02/03/2007 18:53

A--HA! I was trying to pull that corner UP and to the right not straight across the bottom and to the right. Noooooow I get it.

Sorry for hijacking your thread claireybee

tassis · 02/03/2007 19:02

wooohoo!

so glad you got there!

maveta · 02/03/2007 19:27

I know, what a sense of accomplishment! It does look like a great fold..

claireybee · 03/03/2007 12:52

Got it! Thanks, you did make it simpler tassis, and those pictures are easier to follow than the ones I had been looking at. It's easy once you know how!
