At my wits end

My DS is 7 weeks and I don't know what to do anymore. The time is now 8pm and no word of a lie since 9am this morning he's had 10 yes 10 bottles mainly 4/5 ounces and he's constantly crying for more. I've tried hungry milk before and it doesn't work it just makes him constipated. People have suggested a little baby rice or rusk in his bottle but IMO he's too young for it. I really don't know what to do anymore. As I sit here writing this he's screaming at me and I'm not ashamed to say Im sat here in tears aswell because this can't continue and I'm all out of ideas

This was so me a year ago or so my son had reflux its horrific when they are like this! Buy a stretchy wrap saved my sanity kept him upright aswell which he preferred ask the dr for ranitadine gaviscon is bloody awful so push for that! Infacol then the dummy straight after worked with my son to xx have you tried a different formula? The hipp organic one was amazing for my boy x i really hope for your sanity he calms down soon!! Keep strong mumma!

He could be having a growth spurt. They eat constantly with that. If you are worried I'd see what the Dr or HV says but if he's hungry, feed him. I breastfed my little boy and there were days he always seemed to have a nipple in his mouth. He also had reflux and sometimes they feed for comfort because the milk soothes but then causes the pain as the acid comes back up. See if keeping him upright for up to an hour after he feeds helps. If not see if the doc will prescribe ranitidine. My DC was a different child once he had that and his reflux was under control.

It sounds to me like he could be having a growth spurt though. If he needs food, give it and seek advice from the GP if you think he wants too much.

Mine was exactly like this until 10 weeks when, at my wits end and having tried everything else, my GP finally prescribed Nutrimigen formula. Different baby within half a day. She couldn't tolerate dairy protein, fine now though. Worth a try, just wished we'd discovered the root of the problem earlier. Good luck OP

Is that short for "Impertinent"?? You're being incredibly insensitive. Must be nice to be you always knowing exactly what to do.
If you haven't experienced a child who constantly wants feeding, lucky you. It's exhausting and when you're that tired, really gets you down.
Your comments are very unhelpful.
OP keep doing what you're doing, remember you're an amazing person - you've got this! X Flowers

Sounds like my life when my now 9 month old was that age. We went through periods of time where she would feed (I was breast feeding) every 20 mins. Some days I felt like I just had my boobs out all day. She wouldn't take a dummy or a bottle so my boobs were her only source of food and her only way of being soothed.

It was silent reflux. I gave up dairy and she was a million times better. Know you are bottle fed but may be worth a trip back to the Dr to try some dairy free milk if it doesn't get better. Good luck.

Pertie - I can't believe how rude your comments are!

I had stupidly big babies...had to have them early as a result. For medical reasons I couldnt breastfeed...but they had massive appetites. By 8 wks they were drinking milk by the pint (2×bottles) at each sitting and showing signs of getting hungrier at bed. I fed them petit filous/baby rice...my gp and health visitor agreed as their hunger couldnt be satisfied...they weren't getting fat either, or vomitting sufferinf with wind just greedy massive little men who needed and wanted more. This did satisfy them and they moved swiftly to foods and are still fabulous eaters now. My last baby although not as big never had the hunger like the others so didnt wean until later. I cant advise you what to feed and when but if they are hungry I would feed them I dont see the point of not. Mine never slept much during the day so i think their tiredness outweighed their hunger at this stage as once I fed them the petit filous they stopped waking at night. Also my babies were born 12yrs ago so dont know how what I did would be viewed now...but as I say they survived without issues. But dont beat yourself up some babies just arent as content as others and its got nothing to do with what you may or may not be doing....its just who they are. X

I'm so sorry you're having a tough time. Have you considered a cows milk protein allergy? The first clued we had was a very hungry baby who was never satisfied. They eat loads to keep pressure on tummies to feel full because it's less painful. Once my ds was diagnosed and had dairy free milk , he ate less than half what he did previously and that was still more than enough. Good luck
