When did you stop using weeks to tell how old your LO is?

Do you still say 30 weeks for example? Sorry for a totally random thread, but we're having a bit of a debate in the office!

Your office sounds like mine

My DS is 7.5 months now - I lost track of weeks at 6 months so go in months now.

hunkerdave · 27/02/2007 16:42

About six months, I think.

Olihan · 27/02/2007 16:43

At about 4/5 months I think, when months were more obvious than working out '18 weeks is nearly 5 months' type thing.

That's what I've been trying to tell people, that after about 6 months weeks don't mean anything anymore. All started because I said it was DS's 7 month birthday today, and sparked debate about how he can't be 7 months because not all months are same length (??). So according to some moms here i should still be doing weeks

Oh my god - how sad! Tell them to get a life.

Would they consider themselves to be 1560 weeks old or 30 years old FGS - some people really are stupid!

hunkerdave · 27/02/2007 16:50

WTF?

Of course he's 7 months if it's the same date as the day he was born.

Otherwise each leap year their birthday would be on a different date.

LOL! about 4 months i think !!

margo1974 · 27/02/2007 16:50

I can't even remember how hamy weeks my dd2 is, I have to look on the calendar - she's 11 weeks today. I am such a bad mum.

Ceebee74 · 27/02/2007 16:50

Eh?? So on your LO's 1st borthday (or his 12 month birthday) he won't be 12 months because months are different lengths?? Have to say that the people in your office are talking cr*p

My friends DS was born 4 weeks after mine and she has always insisted that he has reached another month every 4 weeks so for example, when he was 20 weeks old, my friend told everyone he was 5 months old even though, as you say months are different lengths so it was actually a good 2 weeks before his '5 month' birthday - so by her maths, her DS is pretty much the same age as mine now - I am waiting to see what happens when she gets to him being 12 months but there still being 4 weeks to go before his birthday iyswim!!

margo1974 · 27/02/2007 16:51

hamy? many

Sorry

I stop using weeks at about 4months.

The Woman in your office sound rather petty to me, of course your child is 7mths if it's the same date as birth date month!

ScottishThistle · 27/02/2007 16:56

Ceebee74. How funny do let us know what happens with the 12mth/no birthday scenario!

belgo · 27/02/2007 16:58

At about 20 weeks

foxtrot · 27/02/2007 16:58

After about a month. Does it really matter? I'm a bit slack about these things, mind you. Don't ask me how old mine were when they got first tooth etc. Hav'n't a clue and couldn't care less

TRS · 27/02/2007 16:59

I know! It's just really interesting that they think they're right, esp the ones without LO's
