How many hours at Nursery?

How many hours is considered average for a toddler at Nursery?

I always assumed half days were around 3 hours and a full day around 6-7, but i'm finding in our local area the half session is from 12-6pm Shock

My DD is 23 months and due to start but I'll admit i'm fairly nervous for her going for so long. I know I can pick her up at anytime, but just curious as to what other mums think and do.

My dd started nursery at a similar age to yours and does 2 half days a week 9-1pm.

I agree with those who have said the longer hours are those needing childcare, shorter hours are those just wanting their free nursery hours.

OP in your situation I would just go to playgroups (where the parent stays) and leave any idea of nursery of any description for another year.

Mine started at 20 months and is now 27 months. We do two mornings a week (08:00 - 13:00) and I'm thinking of increasing it now as she's very comfortable and happy there, and she's learning many skills that I'm not able to teach her at home. A full day would be 08:00 - 18:00. There's an option for early drop-off at 07:30 for £2.50 extra each time.

Ours is open 7.30-6.30. My DS usually goes 7.30-5/5.30 3 days a week and has done since he was 7 months
