So this maybe abit long! Basically, I'm trying to work some things out and could do with some help. I currently work 50 hours a week, about £18000 a year. We have found out we will be having a baby august. But I wanted to find out what I will be entitled to? Between both of us we earn £40000 a year, we don't live together but are planning on getting our own place within the next few months. It's our first child so we are not too clued on with how benfits work and what I could be entitled to? My boss said I will get statutory maternity pay of like £140 ish a week. And advice would be great xxx

Is that under minimum wage??

I am a bit clueless too but I think the minimum is 6weeks full pay then down to stat pay.

You'll get child benefit and I think that's pretty much it although you may get help with childcare costs. You should look at an online benefits calculator to see if you would qualify.

I'm 25 in 6 weeks, they were notified by someone that they were paying bmw, so they've updated it to £18000 now. But I'm guessing at 25 it'll have to change again? I will have to come back to work once my maternity is up. I have no idea what benefits are available to me if I decide not to go back if that makes sense x

This may help with mat pay

6 weeks at 90% of your average earnings between 18-24 weeks of pg then smp (£140 ish per week) for another 23 weeks iirc. Child benefit is about £20 per week. You may get some tax credits but as they are based on previous financial year's income and the threshold is rising each year I don't think you will necessarily qualify.
