Best real nappy for nightime use?

I use Weenees Pouch Pants with washable microfibre and hemp cloths, and we have two fuzzibunz which were to be for night time use, but have not really worked - we find that if DS (almost 1 year btw) poos in a wet nappy there is a sort of nappy explosion! Also, his clothes were often slightly damp as the fleece from inside the nappy around the leg would touch his clothes and wick.

Soooo, any recommendations? Something I could use with the cloths I have would be good (ie, a cover only), or am also open to buying a few shaped.

Was wondering about fleece wraps - how on earth do they work?? I just dont get it, as it seems to be the fleece in th fuzzibunz that are causng the wicking problem! I'm interested though, b/c I love the look of the Tots Bots spotty and stripe fleece wraps (sad, I know!)

Anyone use fleece wraps with cloths/prefolds?

TIA

I used minki huggles as night time nappy... they are huge though and need a wrap over them. Worked well but I've had to change to disposables at night now as DS gets a rash on the top of his thighs if in real nappy for a long time (the area the rash comes is outside a disposable, but covered by a real nappy iykwim). I had some fuzzis we used with him in the day but I found they wicked a lot to so didn't buy the next size when he grew out of the ones we had. I also had some fleece wraps as I loved the patterns but they do wick if LO stays in same position for a while so I never used them at night, althouh I know a lot of people who do!!!

minki huggle all the way!!!! I either use a minki fleece wrap on top or nature babies wrap not had any problems and can hold DD1 from 6pm-8am without leaking. She leaks from disposables.

meant to add DD1 is 14mths so dont need to add an extra booster as yet.

I maybe worth you checking the following two:

www.hempresto.co.uk

www.elliepants.co.uk

Both do a system which uses inserts or folded cloth, ellie pants has PUL and wool and hempresto has PUL and fleece.

Fleece and wool work in a similar way by allowing evaporation throughout the night, tho I find wool easier as it doesn't need washing every day.

I have used Tots Bots fleece wraps with a pad folded terry at night before (so similar to prefolds/inserts and it worked okay. The cool thing with fleece is if you need to you can pin it (so pin the cloth to the wrap, or pin the wrap together if, like my son, undoing velcro becomes an issue). My all time favourite pattern is the rainbow fleece (just bought a sling and some baby legs in the same pattern)

wambamboo with a booster (microfibre cloth) and a fleece or wool wrap.

I am eyeing up huggles though because they look gooooooooooorgeous

I always use a stacinator fleece wrap at night, much nicer that tots wraps as they are popper fastening and don't rub.
They don't leak, just make sure you don't use a poppered vest over the top as they can get a bit damp from the pressure.
Ds isn't a heavy wetter so can get away with pretty much any nappy overnight, I use huggles/wbb/fluffles etc with no problems.

stacinator

|Oooh oooh or bumsnugglers - got 2 from them and love em to bits

Thanks everyone, I will have to sit down and go through them all and check them out.

Can anyone tell me what the benefit of the fleece wrap is? They seem to be not as wateroof, but breathable...yes? So, if sensitive skin is not a prob, just get normal 'plastic' wraps?

Hey, btw Alfiesmum...Alfie is the name of my next son, should we be blessed with another! Lovely!

They just let the air circulate more and the moisture escape so its nicer than having it all trapped in there iyswim

Fleece wraps do let some wet out very slowly, so less in there next to skin. I love them for overnight. But, if the nappy gets soaked they are likely to start to leak through a bit, so it's a bit of trial and error with the boosting.

Nappy-wise, Minki Huggles are excellent, if bulky. A slimmer, more absorbant one is the Bambineo with some extra boosters which is great overnight.

If you can get away without the Bambineo booster during the day, or even, say, on the last nappy before bedtime, use the spare ones to boost your overnight nappy rather than buying them separately.

For a boy, Tesco's own nappies

Can you use fleece wraps under a grobag, or is there not enough airflow?

Thanks everyone for all this info!

We used to use boosted Tots classics, but they started to leak (DS is 20 months and a seriously heavy wetter). Now we use either Tots Bamboozles, well boosted, or a stuffies style nappy, again well boosted. Both with a one life poppered wrap, because it's slightly bigger than the ME Airflow. No leaks so far.

alfiesmum · 21/02/2007 21:59

Yes I used to put ds in a grow bag, its just tight clothing that is pressed against the wrap that causes the dampness.

Nemo2007 · 22/02/2007 11:52

Also used grobags for DD until last month as she was falling over in it.

claireybee · 22/02/2007 16:41

Ellas House Bumhugger, Bumble/Bambeasy or Wee Notions, all boosted with an extra microfibre insert(the pocket nappy ones) and with a fleece or airflow wrap. DD is a heavy wetter and still feeds once or twice a night and we dont get leaks-she is usually in the same nappy for 14 hrs at night. Had a week or so of extreme weeing but an extra insert or microfibre cloth stopped any leaks. As all of these nappies have a fleece inner her skin stays lovely and dry-even at the end of 14hrs. I didnt believe a fleece wrap could work but it really does. The only prob i find with it is that it needs to be washed after everytime cos of the strong wee smell whereas a pul wrap can just be rinsed under tap and used again the following night
