Washing Machine broken down and I had to buy disposables - so disappointed

My washing machine has been on it's way out for a few weeks (bearings going). Finally, we found somewhere that will send us the parts to fix it (we nearly bought a new one, but it's better to fix it isn't it?) and the washing machine chose that day to pack up altogether.
So I have had to go and buy some disposables . DD is 6mo and only had 1 pack of disposables for in hospital and first 2 days up until now.
I hate them.
And I bought the wrong size.
Commiserate please?
Or should I just get over it?

It's beyond your control! It will be fine!

They're only nappies for emergency use. I think it's OK.

Much sympathy. Gutting, isn't it? I find that I invariably put the things on back to front. We still have random ones left over from a couple of packs bought for holidays. I guess they'll do for the next baby's holidays!

CorrieDale - you might find that the glue doesn't last so long and they'll be useless in another year or two.

Hello Jillybeans!

On a practical note, if your washing machine has truely packed in you are welcome to come round to ours with a few loads one evening and I will do them for you!!!

JillyBeansNW · 19/02/2007 12:54

That is soooo kind. I may take you up on it later on the week (you might not want to let me in cos I smell too much by then though).
I had my neighbour do a load of baby clothes but didn't think I should ask for nappies. I have to go to StH tonight where a friend is washing my dirties before they get any more stained (she is an angel).
The other thing is, I think I have realised that I was feeling a bit smug about using washables. In Asda I kept wanting to tell complete strangers that I don't usually use disposables.
Then again, I am sure that I read somewhere about someone who sidles up to people in the nappy aisle and hands them the nappy lady web site address .

Jillybeans I am planning on using reusables where possible so it will be good practice for me lol!!! Seriously if you need to you are welcome. CAT me / email msrlmoss @ hotmail . com (take out the spaces) and I will send you my phone number. I'm normally in the house from about half seven of an evening.

HAHAHA

I have felt the same about the nappies aisle... and have been known to have had to stop myself from trying to convert people with them in their trolleys just in case they thought I was off mine (and totally rude).

I also give out NCT green cards to people who look pregnant. Have not yet embarrased myself but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

CorrieDale · 19/02/2007 18:04

What?????? I never thought about the glue disintegrating. Now I really am gutted.

JillyBeansNW · 19/02/2007 18:31

How on earth do you tell if your child is still weeing wearing these things?
