Argh!!
Sil just let me know niece has worms. She had a sleepover with dd1 last weekend. Symptoms started wed/thurs.

What are the odds dd is going to have them? Should I do some kind of preventative treatment?

I personally would but I worm him regularly anyway. Worms are miserable.

Yrs I would they're so easily transmitted. Treat everyone with ovex (you get it at the chemist) damp dust the bed and bedroom, boil bedding and be really tough on hand hygiene. Make sure they wash their hand and bottom first thing in the morning then wash the flannel. It's a nuisance but the only easy to get rid of them.

Would there be any point in treating just now given that they take two weeks to hatch and she was only in contact a week ago?
The meds only kill adults - not the eggs?

Well its personal. You cant tell who infected who, or where they were picked up from. Some people don't get symptoms. You can wait until symptoms if you want its your call.

LittleBee23 · 11/12/2016 12:18

I was just wondering if we'd need to do it all again anyway if symptoms started but think I'll jut pop to chemist and get family treatment.
Dd2 is under 2 though so can't have it argh.

Ok in your shoes I would treat now and again in 2 weeks. I use the tablets for adults and the syrup for kids. I would also have some syrup in the cupboard ready in case they show their itchy faces. That way if there are any hatched they can get ejected before reaching maturity and the next lot of hatchlings caught before they can lay.

I don't know about now but when mine were young the gp prescribed the old fashioned stuff for under 2. Now that was worm medicine. Evil stuff.

LittleBee23 · 11/12/2016 12:32

Thanks. Think we'll just do that to be on safe side. Going to boil wash all bedding and towels and hoover from top to bottom today 👍🏻

It is your call though. If you're still not sure, ask at the chemist and maybe just get the stuff in ready.
