Half eaten sweets

A discussion my OH and I are having..... How many children leave half eaten sweets around the house...?

It's disgusting and I'm trying to stop mine don't it, but just wondering if it's my kids being vile or a more general issue with kids 7,8,9 years of age

Do you mean sweets that have been chewed? Or like...half a bar of chocolate?

Mine don't...they eat any sweets immediately.

Markb123 · 11/12/2016 01:39

Half chewed sweets, I'll see if I can add a picture

Mine don't. They scoff them down. No sweets left uneaten in the Fitzroy house.

Do all your DC do this or just one?

I have 3 and my OH has 1. Hers doesn't do it, sits and eats them at the table then puts them away. Mine for some reason decided to eat then and discard wrappers and half eaten sweets everywhere, see picture again for wrappers....

Not something mine do. Wrappers, yes. Occasionally a lolly stick. But not the half eaten sweet

Gross. I would stop them having any sweets for some time and when the ban is lifted.... tell them that the moment you find a wrapper or chewed sweet again, the ban will be enforced once more.

No, mine probably swallow sweet hole. I find half eaten pieces of cheese though and once found my toddler chomping down on half a fish finger, when we hadn't eaten fish fingers in a week Confused

Lake2 · 11/12/2016 10:39

Whole ^^ Blush

EmeliaHerveyHenryFitzroy · 11/12/2016 10:41

Three children doing that? Shock

That's some odd shit right there, kids don't half do some weird things.

They be taking the piss.

EmeliaHerveyHenryFitzroy · 11/12/2016 10:42

lake OMG re the fish finger!!!!

They stashed it away, didn't they?

MyWineTime · 11/12/2016 12:32

There is absolutely no way I would have ever tolerated that!
An odd sweet wrapper maybe, but never half eaten sweets.
Every time you find rubbish that they have left somewhere, get them to clear it up.

KatyN · 11/12/2016 22:11

Mine likes to such haribo and then store them in a bowl for later. Later never comes and I throw them out at the end of the day. He'/ only 5 but he has never asked for the bowl the next day.
I would offer a bowl to take with them when they eat a sweet and say it wasn'5 acceptable to leave them in the floor.

Thanks for the replies on this, I must admit it is a bit of a first for half eaten sweets, and I'm working hard to teach them to clean up, this episode is just well out of order and I'm getting them to clean up the next time they are round mine.

It's like they don't respect the house - it's fine for them to just discard rubbish around the place. I've been working on trying to get them to respect the house but clearly it's not working at the moment

The odd biscuit wrapper occasionally stuffed down the side of the sofa is normal here (almost teens)

chewed up and discarded sweets -never from the children but tend to be whatever the dog has pilfered and decided against finishing.

At 7,8,9 i'd expect them to know better tbh.

I'd definitely stop sweets altogether or take the fun out of them by making them sit at the table and supervising eating them until they learn

AmberEars · 12/12/2016 10:35

Mine are similar ages to yours. They don't leave half eaten sweets lying around but I am waging a war against discarded sweet wrappers! I've told them if I have to throw away their sweet wrappers again I will throw all their remaining sweets in the bin!

Kittenrush · 12/12/2016 10:35

That is a little odd isn't it! I can't imagine spitting out a sweet on the floor at that age. I'm with others that have said ban the sweets until they have a little more respect for your house!

DramaInPyjamas · 12/12/2016 10:36

I've just read that they do it when they are at yours.
So do they do it the other parents house?

If so, then if you're teaching them not to do it at yours, and they go back into the habit of doing it at the other house then they'll never learn
I think you might need to ensure the other parent is following the same rules for it to work
