Reflux??

Hi ladies. So my little girls are one month old (twins) my smaller twin has had feeding issues since birth, struggling with wind and vomiting. Last week she was in the hospital tested for pyloric stenosis and got the all clear, they said it was reflux and she would be fine. A few days later we had her back at the Drs as she seemed no better, and she was prescribed infant gaviscon. This has made no difference and she's still very unsettled, last night she started vomiting what I can only describe a curdled milk?? Is this typical of reflux and has anyone any advice other than going back to the gp?

Hello. Has she been tested for a cows milk allergy?

Gaviscon is not very effective but it is the cheapest option. The next step for reflux is rantadine. What are her poos like?

No she hasn't been tested for cows milk allergy, but I'm thinking that's a possibility? My You gets son had reflux and wasn't anything like this. The gaviscon has had no effect at all! Her poohs are normal although she is straining when she goes but going once a day and not hard x

I asked about poo as mucusy shiny poo can be a sign of cow milk allergy.

I would ask the GP for rantadine and if that does not work there are more medications for reflux.

If she's been diagnosed by the hospital with reflux I would be demanding a prescription for ranitidine or omeprazole. Gaviscon can work but for severe reflux you need more in conjunction with the gaviscon.

Bear in mind it take a week or so to have full effect, it won't be an instant fix.
