Son vomiting at night!

My 18month old ds has just finished antibiotics for a chest infection. His chest seems better and he's more lively but he has totally lost his appetite for the last 10 days or so. He is a big boy and usually eats a vast amount but now is barely picking at food. He always has a 7oz bottle (while cows milk) before bed. Had gone off it for about a week but started taking whole bottle again.
For the last 3 nights he has woken up between midnight and 4am and projectile vomited all over his bedroom. It's all undigested food and milk. After vomiting he settles back to sleep well and seems fine through the day, except for lack of appetite.
I don't want to bother the dr again after him being there last week for chest infection as they're so busy this time of year.
I was wondering if it might be the milk causing him to vomit? He's never had any trouble with allergies before. Was bf until 9 months old, had a few weeks of formula then been on whole milk since. I'm not familiar with what alternatives I could offer. I know they don't recommend soya milk. I usually wouldn't be too concerned about him missing milk but with virtually no food intake I'm worried he's missing out on nutrients etc.
Any advice? Experience? I'm really worried.

My just 7 months has been having exactly. After speaking to various HV, GP etc the OOH GP said she has a tummy bug and her tummy was being overloaded by milk at night which she can't cope with as she has been unwell. Her nappies also confirm tummy bug (shock) We are only offering very small amounts of formula at night, it seems to be solving the problem.

It is generally advised to avoid diary when you have a tummy infection. I would cut out or massively reduce the milk for a week to see if it help and then try to reintroduce it.

Milk makes it worse honestly . Avoid it til better. Give water in bottle of he likes the comfort of a bottle
Hope lo is feeling better soon

Yes it's the milk! Can you give him juice or water instead ? My little boy was the same after a illness and milk made me sick for weeks!

Thanks all! Have put him to bed with no bottle tonight but he's only eaten one slice of fruit loaf and one pancake all day and only half a banana for dinner so am worried he will wake up hungry. also found some soya milk for 1-3 year olds which I will give him at breakfast and hope for the best!

Yes avoid the milk, sometimes kids can get a temporary intolerance after bad bugs.

If he's a good size, don't worry about a temporary loss of appetite. As soon as he's completely got over the bug he'll probably show signs of being very hungry again. Speak to the GP or HV if it goes on for more than another week or so though.
