I love the out and about but it's too wide so think a Phil and Teds. I will have a 18 month old and a new born. Which accessories will I need and is the Phil and teds the way to go?

Out n about is fab and fits through standard sized doors. Nobody gets the cheap seat and I love the fact that the kids can interact when they're older. I decided to go side by side after seeing another mum with sisters who were holding hands. If you live in a city and need to lug it on and off the bus then you're probably right about the Phil and ted.

Thank you. Is the out n about suitable from new born?

Yes they're suitable from birth but you need to get an insert and I think a lot of people buy the Phil n teds cocoon to go in it instead. They do bassinets but TBH I don't think many people get that much use out of them. I have a single out n about now. Lovely buggies , so easy to push and retain their value.

I've a 4 month old and a 2.5 year old and use out n about and absolutely love it

Never had a issue with it fitting through anywhere as yet and yes you can use it from new born as it lies totally flat

It's so easy and light to push unlike the P&T

It's get a big thumbs up from me and also you can buy it cheaper from out n about outlet of 2nds on there website and it's still covered by the normal warrevty and you won't notice anything wrong with it and it's a great price

My youngest has just started school so it's a while since I used a double but I had the double Out and about Nipper 360, it was awesome.

I used it from birth with No. 3 and put a Phil and Teds cocoon in one of the seats for the newborn, it fitted perfectly.
It is so light to push, even when fully loaded with 2 x 4 yr olds I could push it with 1 hand. My friends with P&T's were amazed at how easy it was to push. Storage both underneath and in the sides of the hood is great. It's narrow for a side by side, only place I couldn't get it in to was a small gift shop in our town that is an old listed building with an awkward angled narrow doorway.

It does off road as well as it does pavements.
If you have an extra small child who gets tired legs, they can sit on the footplate. We had 5 kids in it once at the end of a long walk, aged baby-5 yrs. 2 in each seat (one on each others knees) then the 5th on the front footplate. Probably not recommended but works!
It's pretty indestructable.
We also had the single version and loved that too.

I have a 19 month age gap and I love our Phil and Teds! I don't drive and so need to be on and off buses and trains a lot and it's ideal for that. We still use it everyday and ds is almost 3, not bad for a £80 e bay special!

I love the mountain buggy.

AngryVagina · 04/12/2016 21:54

Out n about for us too.

Mummamayhem · 04/12/2016 21:56

Mountain double is amazingly narrow. I really liked it.

scrumptiouscrumpets · 05/12/2016 10:05

I have the P&T and love it because it's the same size as a single buggy, easy to use on public transport. It's also really light to push and lift up kerbs. The newborn part is nice and cosy, DS2 loves it and naps for hours in it. BUT if you have a big baby he will grow out of it quickly - DS2 is on the 97th percentile and I'm glad I didn't buy the cocoon or he wouldn't fit in it anymore.
The seats don't recline back very far so no good for toddler naps.

buzzlightyearsdinosaur · 05/12/2016 11:40

I loved the nipper 360, I also had an 18m gap and there was a patch of time where they absolutely loved sitting next to each other. Unlike the P&T that I had previously you could push the nipper one handed which was handy when the older one wanted to walk.

The P&T's may have improved, mine was the old sport version, but I found it front heavy and whoever was in the cheap seat was also too close to the wheels so if you accidentally wheeled through dog poo it all got very stressful. I also missed the storage space.

welltakeitaway · 05/12/2016 11:48

I started off with a Phil and teds and then got a Maclaren side by side. Yes it was a pain to get on buses at times but much better for both children being able to see, lay back and generous size seats.

ems137 · 05/12/2016 12:08

I'm going for the Phil and teds dash, it folds down even with the double kit attached and is obviously light and narrow. I had the P&T sport with my first 2 and loved it, I had quite a few others to compare it with as well!

minipie · 05/12/2016 17:25

I have both - a Phil & Teds navigator and an Out n about nipper double. Got the P&T first, then borrowed the Nipper after the little one started kicking the front seat and they both started wanting to go in the front all the time.

I much prefer the nipper even though it's wider. Far far better for naps. So light to push. Fits through doors no problem. More basket space too. And both kids get a view. It does take up more space in the hall than the P&T, but that's the only downside. With an 18 month age gap I'd get the nipper no question.

If you do get a P&T, make sure you get one where the rear seat reclines (like the navigator or dot) because otherwise you have an awkward stage when the baby is too big for the layback bit but too small to sit upright in the rear seat.

minipie · 05/12/2016 17:26

Ah yes, if you use buses a lot then P&T might be better.
