Our daughter is 4 and a half, my husband occasionally takes her to the swimming pool. All changing, washing ect happens in men's changing room, she would not manage to do all that by herself in women's. Also whenever she needs to go to toilet in public, if I am not around, my husband takes her to men's toilets. Just wondering up to what age is that appropriate?

Most places have the rule of no over 8's in the other changing room.

She's very little yet, you've got a good couple of years before you need to worry about this.

I think I was about 7 when I started really disliking going into the men's with my Dad to get changed after swimming. Not that my Dad bothered me, we'd still walk around naked at home, I just didn't want to have to see other men's bits & pieces. I wasn't worried about then looking at me, I don't suppose it even occurred to me they would, but I expect my Dad kept me pretty well wrapped up in a towel & then changed quickly to keep me warm anyway.

Public toilets - for me it depends how safe the facilities feel. If they don't feel safe then they go with an adult, I don't care how old they are. People are in cubicals or urinals, it's not really an invasion of other people's privacy if an older child goes in with a parent like it is in a changing room.
