27 month checks

So I had our 27 month check with DS1 a few weeks ago (although it's from 27-30 months I believe). Had to fill out a questionnaire on which I could have put anything to be fair; went to appointment, HV looked through my answers (only real issues are with his eating), observed him, weighed him and then said right, great thanks for that. All fine.
I've since noticed a number of FB posts with mums saying 'Wee Johnny has passed his 27 month check with flying colours, so proud etc'. Am I missing something as I didn't think it was a pass/fail thing...or have I not taken this seriously enough?

All the posts have been a bit cringey tbh so I'm probably just annoyed at them more than anything else!!!

I'm with you on this one!
My DS had his recently, the HV went through the questions and scored him based on what I said, said he was on track and gave the questionnaire back which is somewhere in his nappy bag...

DS has his next week and is not interested in drawing straight lines- but it even says on the form it's not a test! If they feel better for coaching their child to thread beads, good for them, but it's a bit sad they need that validation.

DD had hers a few weeks ago. I believe it's just point to check all is ok and pick up any developmental delay. Not pass or fail. It's not a test!

What squedgie said.
It's there to try to pick up those dc who have serious needs that for whatever reason haven't been picked up elsewhere. It's not really something you can 'pass with flying colours' it's more a check of 'is child within expected range of development?'

The HV said it was to make sure those really struggling didn't fall through the net. That some children get to 27 months having never held a pencil Sad
