Another massive parenting fail for my list

I just seem to be constantly firefighting and making bad decisions. We have a 1 way circular school carpark that is often very congested and I (and many others) have got into the habit of letting the kids out whilst in the queue going round so that they aren't late. It can take 10 mins to do the whole circuit. As always i reminded them to walk safely look out for parking cars etc. but my crazy boy ran behind a car reversing because he saw a friend. I hooted, it stopped, no one was injured, but the driver was very shaken and now I'm back to being the shitty parent who gets it wrong. I apologised to her. I went into class and told him off. I've emailed the school acknowledging responsibility and confirming i won't let them out until i am parked now. Is there anything else i can do before looking forward to the public shaming on the newsletter.

Nothing you can do now. Just wait for the shaming and it will soon become old news.

You weren't the only parent doing that so I don't think other parents can point fingers. There's no point beating yourself up just because you made a poor judgement. Hopefully they won't actually name you in the newsletter or include a mugshot? Shock Grin

I visited a posh shop to look at their amazing Christmas display and managed to smash a huge glass ball full of moving figures in a Christmas scene. The sign said "All breakages will be paid for" so I blamed my 3 year old Blush. He didn't speak to me on the way home. I feel quite bad.

If possible, can you go really early when it's less busy? That sounds like a horrid accident waiting to happen.

Not your fault. That's the system. But I think the reason you feel a bit crap is actually because it could have been a bad accident. So I'd try and mitigate that as much as possible.

How old are the children? Because I think that makes quite a difference here to approach.

Is there not a quieter side street near to school where you could park and walk in? If it takes 10 minutes to park on the car park, you have a 5 minute walk radius to choose from, it won't take longer and will be safer.

Parenting is one long list of humiliations after another! With glorious lovey dovey bits in between!
