My child says she vomited blood but she has flushed it

My child is 7 and been being sick since last night, she's been sick 8 times, I have tired my best to keep her hydrated but she's still been vomiting. She has been sick In numerous places like the sick bucket and the toilet and the kitchen floor. I was running her bath upstairs and she ran to the downstairs toilet to vomit again and when she came up she told me it was blood... I told her it can't be blood but she's very certain it was bright red blood so I told her I was going to have a look but she has flushed the toilet. I know if it was blood this could be serious and I should indeed be on my way to A&E..... so do I wait until she vomits again or take her word for it ?

It is probably that she has torn her oesophagus from being sick.

Tbh I would trust her and take her to A&E to be on the safe side, if she has been ill its unlikely she has eaten something that looks like blood. Ask her how much there was? If just a small amount you could wait and see but if she thinks a lot definitely take her.

Yes, what charlie said

Might be the wrong answer, but I would wait and see. If she was really vomiting blood type it then I would expect her to be stay in bed type poorly, not wander around the house throwing up type poorly. And if she has been sick 8 times, chances are she will do it again soon. And if not, all the better!

It is most likely just a torn something inside from the vomiting tinging the vomit, but you know your child best. If you think it is possible she is really ill go to A&E or call NHS Direct or whatever they are now. If she seems OK then she probably is OK.

She said it was a big line of red. That is her best description and the rest of her sick was brown/orange

I line of red does sound like just a bit from a torn oesophagus. From what you have said I would wait and see. But, as ever, you know your child best. If you are worried seek proper advice.

My typing is very random today. Really should proofread before pressing "send"

I do this when I get sick. My oesophagus gets really irritated and starts bleeding with the retching. I was always told that as long as it's small amounts and bright red, not to worry. The issue is when it is darker/brown. Give NHS direct a call to be on the safe side though.

Ok she's been sick again and there was no blood in it. She is fairly unwell just sat around all day now she's put herself to bed
