Movicol for baby - please help!

DD (6 wo) suffered from colic so we had her on Infacol, which helped but left her constipated - no movement for 5 days! - so we took her off it on doc advice. The doc also gave us some Movicol to use if there was no change 2 days after coming off the Infacol. Initially, we didn't need the Movicol as a day and a half after the appointment in the early hours of Sunday morning, we had 2 very dirty nappies and we thought her bowels were back to normal but here we are Tuesday tea-time and no dirty nappies since. So we are administering the Movicol as prescribed but has anyone here had to give Movicol to a baby? She's EBF. We've tried to feed it via syringe but it's like 30ml of liquid and it's very distressing for her and she spits it back out.
Any hints or tips? Am really worried about her not pooing :( Previous to the Infacol she was giving us about 3-4 dirty nappies a day!

It's normal for breastfed babies to start going up to a week or 10 days between poos at this age.

It is very common in breastfed babies to start going big gaps between pooing without them being constipated. It is unlikely that infacol caused it and I wouldn't give movicol either. The gap between poos could just be their new normal pattern of bowel movements and doesn't need tampering with

From kellymom website:

At around the age of six weeks, the stooling pattern of a breastfed baby may change. It is not uncommon for the breastfed baby to skip days between bowel movements. Some babies skip every other day, some go every two or three days, some once every 5 - 7 days, and some babies hold out for up to 11 or 12 days at a time - then have quite a FULL diaper when they DO go!

There is absolutely no reason to intervene and try methods commonly used to "induce" a bowel movement (such as prune or other types of juices, water, glycerin suppositories, or using rectal stimulation). If artificial stimulation is done too often, the baby's system can become dependant upon this stimulation to "go", and no longer is able to have a normal bowel movement on their own.

In most cases, as long as baby is not acting ill (lethargic, crying in pain, etc.), the tummy is soft, not rigid or distended, skipping days between stools is not cause for alarm, however, mother should not hesitate to ask her health care provider to check her baby to be sure there is no physical problem.

Thanks LoisEighty and dementedpixie - re the Infacol we were led to believe there were no side effects but the doctor advised us to come off it (plus there is a lot of anecdotal evidence online that many other parents have experienced this..hmm)
I am hoping that it is the normal change in pooing that's causing the gap, but her farts have been very stinky Shock so that was concerning.

It's a bloody emotional minefield this...Sad

How about trying lactulose? I had to give ds this until he was 6mo then moved on to movicol x

I wouldn't give any kind of medicine to an ebf baby who is not ill.
