Was so organised this morning got two kids bathed myself in the bath everything was ready until i went to brush dd's hair and saw this big massive bug in her hair, i said ' oh for gods sake' so i ended up late for school because i had to spend ages getting headlice out her hair. It in away was my own fault because i have been using this tea tree replent and i hadn't used it for a few days and well there you go, bang she's got them. I am so fed up of them, i even cut her hair to her chin length to try to deter them. She must have hair they love or something, i am sure no one else has this problem do they>???

Thanks secur, I have had this for the last two years, she had them at nursery and now at reception, although i know this is probably really horrible thing to say but her best friend was at nursery with her, so i am thinking is it her that keeps giving them to her? but i don't know her mum and i can't really check her friend can i? i wish they'd bring back the nit nurse, lol.

OH i would never dream of raking through her friends hair. It is very annoying, and i suppose all i can do is keep doing it. GRRRRR

I've got one dd who had picked them up twice, and one who has never had them. You may find that letting the hair grow and tying it back it better than cutting it short as it's harder for the bugs to get in (yuk). I found my best bet was telling parents of all dds friends, so we all got it stopped at the same time. Also, if she picked them up at school, it's very easy to say (jokingly) that she's got them from someone AND she may have passed them on so everyong check please. Suppose we're quite lucky that its only twice in 4 years (and none at nursery). Also, pointing out how easy it is for parents to catch usually made the more careless a bit more careful .
PS tends to die down a bit as they get older as it's direct head to head contact that passes them around & that slows down when they get older.

She did have long hair tied it up and she still got them, never had her hair down, so i cut it because it was easier for me to get them out. her hair is soo thick you see,

Oops - thick hair. DD1 who gets them has thick hair. DD2 has never had them (yet) & hers is quite fine. Still, at least she'll have beautiful (bug free) locks when she's older.

Well just to update everyone, my dd went on a school trip on thursday andshe was sitting next to her best friend and her friend told her that she had eggs in her hair because her mum couldn't get them out, so my suspisions are correct. Secur my dd had ringlets in her hair, and i had to cut it and they never returned unfortunately. its annoying i'll give you that. But the hell continues for me until she's nit free.
