Reusables working brilliantly during the day - would like move on to night time too!

I could do with some advice/experience here. We're all (me, dh, dd who is 12 weeks) getting on very well with our reausables in the daytime, but up until now we've been using disposables at night. For some reason I thought this would be better, but I'm not sure now (not least because the reusables got put on by accident after the bath the other day, and kept her dry until 4am!). And I'd love not to be buying even eco-disposables if I can help it.

So, at the moment we're using Bamboozles with a Motherease Rikki wrap. Do I boost these at night - and if so with what - or get something else? And where from? DD is quite a heavy wetter, and so fills her nappy quite quickly during the day.

And what's the deal with fleece or wool wraps at night? Am I missing the point entirely, or is there a good reason why I would want to buy something that wicks onto sleepsuits and bedclothes?

Is that enough questions already? How have other people sorted it out?

Hi. I haven't got much experience on this one but I just wanted to say that tonight is the first night in a while that I'm trying DD on a cloth nappy, too.

I use the Nature Babies stuffables so have stuffed with an Ella's House hemp insert and boosted with a terry booster. And the paper liner on top.

She's not a heavy wetter but this nappy does tend to leak around the legs because she's got skinny legs, so I'm hoping she'll be OK through the night.

Fingers crossed.

Hi there 2CatsonBed - I can recommend the Minki Huggle - I used to buy these from kittykins.co.uk but they don't seem to do them anymore. FYI kitty kins is a really great site if you need advice on any nappies.

I have tried a wool wrap but it used to stink in the morning - Motherease wrap have never ever let me down.
You can buy boosters from most nappy suppliers - TotsBots do a range that I have found particularly absorbant.

My bumbles, stuffed with 2 boosters for the 2 yr old and 1 for the 6 month old, with Motherease wraps have been great and never leaked...

We use One Size Pocket Bum Geniusnappies overnight, they work very well for us

If you want to stick with PUL at night the airflow wraps are great (no velcro to rub on their tummies) but wool is far better. It doesn't wick but evaporates (at least if it's working properly) and keeps the nappy cool and drier than a PUL wrap does and you don't have to wash/treat them very often.

My best tip at night is to boost between the nappy and the wrap and use something slim, like hemp which will absorb slowly through the night. Second best tip is that you may need a bigger wrap at some point if you are boosting - night wraps work better if they are on the baggy side rather than squished (watch out with popper under vests for the same reason).

My favourite night nappy is the baby beehinds hemp (haven't tried the bamboo one yet), which works a treat and is a one-size, tho I got on well with bumbles and bamboozles too.

Just buy some cheap flannels or microfibre cleaning cloths and fold one between the nappy and wrap.

Fleece and wool are for enthusiasts or those with skin probs but if you're not bothered there's no point buying them. Rikkis are fine for nights, nice and big round the bum for extra padding. Match the waistbands together at the back then pull the front further to get the most out of them.
