I am currently using rainbow tots on ds 12 weeks and dd 17 months. I use white tots at night. I find them really reliable but I am having trouble with clothes fitting- especially for ds as alot of the clothes he has are just such a tight squeeze- I am struggling to get 3-6 month old clothes on him. What I want to know is do AIO's like fuzzi bunz provide a slimmer fit more like a disposable? And are they reliable? Thanks

All in ones like the motherease one are good but you may not find much difference between the bulk - not a fan of kushies all in one at all. Fuzzi bunz are also very reliable - and can be much slimmer if you stuff with microinserts or something like wonderfulls - terries and prefolds can be used too but if you want a slim, flexible fit then the inserts are better and quicker to dry. Maybe a slimmer nappy for your little one would be better like ellas house bumhugger or a bamboo nappy which can use with your existing wraps would work out better value.

I found folded terry squares very absorbent and slim enough not to have problems with baby clothes fitting.

Swaddlebees pockets are extremely slim and neat, however they are not as absorbant as 2 part nappies and really not suitable for overnight.

Bamboo nappies such as Bamboozles or Bambineos (better than Bamboozles as you can take the boosters out) are very slim for their size and extremely absorbant.

Not sure I'd agree about the bumhugger for slimness. They aren't as slim as bamboo nappies, although they are a really lovely nappy and a great design. I love the liner they have.

I do like the Baby Beehinds birth to potty nappy as you can take out the various boosters and make it quite slim. No good if you can't tumble though as it goes like cardboard. The bamboo version should be better for this but I don't have one.

Or change your clothes :-) Cut 4 Cloth clothes are superb, and made for cloth nappies from organic cotton (and they're fair trade). However they are more expensive than supermarket or some high street stores (because they're made from organic cotton, and because they're fair trade). There are other non-organic brands such as Tinker Togs but I don't know what the quality is like as I've never seen them. I've heard they're excellent, though.

Many other organic clothing brands are now making their clothes bigger in the bum - worth checking out if you are ok paying the extra (and they're usually much softer than conventional cotton).

Or, get a babygown for overnight - they're great as they don't fasten like a babygrow and are much better for superfast overnight nappy changes!

Bamboo is definately one of your best options for slimness - I very very rarely have problems with trousers fitting my DS. AIOs/Pockets like magicalls, wonderoos, swaddlebees etc can be slim, but are nowhere near as absorbant as the bamboo.

A wambamboo with a pul wrap is incredibly slim fitting.

The sleep gowns are great too, i love em, but DH whinges about DS wearing "a nightie" - they can be pricey too as Cut 4 cloth is one of the only places that still sells them (and DS is still wearing his so I can't sell em on to you ).

Just thought I'd mention thatI haven't found the bamboo nappies as absorbent as the cotton ones.

9weeksandcounting · 12/02/2007 17:49

I thought green baby did gowns and some of the high street baby shops had started doing them I do have c4c ones though - they are soooo lovely esp with the kimono vest and matching hat

Flamesparrow · 12/02/2007 17:52

When I was looking 12 months ago that was my only option - sorry.

9weeksandcounting · 12/02/2007 17:58

Thats okay

Boffin question - have noticed on ebay that wam bamoo nappies are going to be labelled 'bamineo' - what is that all about?

Flamesparrow · 12/02/2007 21:34

Think its just a more international name like cif n starburst.

Pure guesswork though!

makesachange · 13/02/2007 12:40

Whambamboos are going global .

That's why the name change. It's a case of finding a name which suits the nappy, and which can be registered in a squillion domain names (bambineo.com, bambineo.fr, etc).

Also there are some key changes to the design which have been brought in with the change of name. Plus some gorgeous new products on their way...

Re babygowns, some high street stores are doing them too, although I agree that the organic babygowns by Cut4Cloth are just the best, so soft and really long lasting. There's also another brand called Organics for Kids who do lovely ones. They're not such bad value when you consider that they last from 0-6 months usually, so you're not having to buy two lots as with babygrows which are usually 0-3 months and 3-6 months.

Juuule - what cotton nappies are you using and what bamboo nappies are you using?

Emma

juuule · 13/02/2007 18:22

I'm using a variety of nappies (not as many now that dd is daytime toilet trained). I have Tots Bots bamboozles and although they are good the Tots Bots cotton nappies are much better imo. I also use Little Ewe terry squares and Motherease One-size among others.

makesachange · 14/02/2007 10:18

Really interesting - never known anyone find cotton Tots more absorbant than Bamboozles!

Unless the Bamboozles have been boil washed at some point which damages the pile, therefore the absorbancy.

Interesting.

juuule · 14/02/2007 10:44

Nope -never boil washed

makesachange · 15/02/2007 11:11

Flumoxed me, then!!!

Anyone else comment on this?

Flamesparrow · 15/02/2007 20:36

I've never done any proper tests to see... just know that the science behind it makes them more absorbant iyswim.

I change them after roughly the same amount of time anyway, so don't really notice... and I don't use my cotton ones for night because the wbbs are bigger for the boosters.
