wool wraps

just bought wool wrap from Imse Wimse. Green baby is selling them for £5 less then other internet shops at the moment. Wondered if poeple found them useful considering that there is a little more work involved.

I use a wool wrap some of the time because I like the idea of something non-synthetic around dd's nappy. Once I got used to it, it's not really hassle - OK, I handwash it if it gets poo on it, and it does take ages to dry.

I would be interested to know what the imse vimse one is like to use. The problem with the one I have is that it does not fit over all my nappies.

PinkTulips · 10/02/2007 13:11

only annoying thing is how long they take to dry but if i had the money to buy a few spare that wouldn't be an issue, lol

they're really good, i use them on mine as night wraps and they work extremely well.

and to be fair, seeing as they don't have to be washed every time they're worn the amount of washing works out roughly the same really.

one tip though, get some olive soap to wash them with, workes very well and use Lansinoh melted in hot water with a couple of drops of tea tree to relanoilise, much better and cheaper in the long run than the relanolising stuff they try to sell you

I use the same stuff to wash mine that I wash my handwash only jumpers in (yes, I know, not a great idea with an infant in the family, but I love soft jumpers)

Oooh I love wool wraps. I've used them overnight with great success. It sounds horrid but you really only need to wash them maybe once a week as long as they're aired in between uses.

Only think to mention is not to leave them out on the line overnight! I did... and it turns out that moths find them tasty :-(

Once a week! Mine are lucky if they get washed once a month (mind you I am pregnant and WAY behind on all forms of housework). I have found tho that with all the wraps/soakers I've tried I can stick them in the washing machine for a spin after handwashing them (at about 700rpm) and that makes drying SO much quicker.

So far I've had Stacinator, Popolini (the best IMO), Bumpy (is that Imse Vimse?), Woollywraps, DIsana and a couple of WAHM ones

PinkTulips · 11/02/2007 13:49

bout once a month her too. got a baby and a toddler and barely have clean sheets so i'm refusing to feel guilty bout it!

makesachange · 11/02/2007 17:06

OK maybe not even once a week but I sort of mentioned once a month once to someone and got an odd look

PinkTulips · 11/02/2007 17:08

pmsl... i never like to be the first to admit it either

snugglebumnappies · 11/02/2007 19:56

I had a lovely Sugar Peas one that fitted well over even Tots Bots, unfortunatly DH has just managed to put it through a 60 degree wash it now looks just about an ok size to use on bump when it finally arrives, am sooooo angry with him. Am just about to place an order for stock from Baby Beehinds so will get a couple of extra ones for DD and keep DH well away from the wrap stash!

MrsWaggsnapps · 12/02/2007 08:51

Apparently there is some trick with hair conditioner you can do to get wraps unshrunk. Might be worth contacting the lady at Cuddlebabes whos abit of a wool guru just to see if you can rescue it

Flamesparrow · 12/02/2007 09:13

pmsl @ the not liking to say once a month!!! I'm the same... I try to say its because I have a few that I rotate, but tbh its still probably about once a month per wrap!!

snugglebumnappies · 12/02/2007 09:36

Ohh thank you Mrs Waggsnapps, will try her, that's where I bought it from in the first place!

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 12/02/2007 10:00

However carefully I rotate my wraps, dd contrives to poo on the wool one at least once a week, and invariably 5 minutes after I put a clean nappy on her, bless her .

Going back to this thread briefly...

I had a call from a customer last week wanting wool wraps. We don't do them, so I suggested a few places to try, but...

Any thoughts on best makes & designs so I am better prepared next time?

Any that you don't like?

What about preferences on knitted v the felted type of wool fabric?

Fastening systems?

Flamesparrow · 19/02/2007 01:11

I love woollywraps - I like the thickness, the way that they just pull on, the colours... and the stripes

If I could get on with velcro then the couche ones from puddlepants are really lovely - the one I had was really slim and great for daytime.

Why do I have such an issue with velcro?

MrsWaggsnapps · 19/02/2007 15:05

definitely felted for me and poppers as DS needs elastic at the front of his to stop them wicking on to his PJs.

I do like woollywraps but I boost between nappy and wrap and it is awkward to get them on and the boosting in the rigt place.

I'd love to try a system like the HEmpresto but with wool where the nappy poppers onto the wrap and it all goes on together (isn't Sugar Peas like that - theres def. a couple of US makers somewhere)

kittypants · 19/02/2007 15:08

i love disana.tried others but although disana look boring i found they worked soo well!
