Potty Training cabin fever - should I give up?

Started potty training ds 2 weeks ago (he is 2.7) to be honest through peer pressure rather than taking the lead from him. Week 1 quite successful with help of stickers/smarties and lots of cuddles although he did refuse to sit down, instead hovering over the potty. He was quite delighted with himself! We had to spend the week away from home week 2 and as we were in holiday mode I let it slip a bit, and put him in pull ups while we were out and about. He is now quite happy to pee/poo in pants or pull-ups and is getting quite angry about being prompted. Has totally lost interest in his potty and the whole darn thing! Of course I feel like I?ve screwed it (and him) up with my laziness last week but deep down I?m wondering if he really isn?t quite ready yet. We were both so miserable and a bit fed up having to camp in one room with bucket and marigolds that I?ve now put the potty out of sight, the nappy back on so we can at least get our relationship back on track! Not quite sure where to go from here ? advice please!!!

Leave it a month then try again.

My friend went through traumas trying to get her ds toilet trained. One step forward, two steps back. Took months. I left ds until he was 3, then said, shall we throw these nappies away and get big boy pants? Okay mum. Sorted, no accidents - dry/clean from day one. Leave it as long as you like (preferably before he starts school though ).

Hi - i would definately agree with mamalocco. My DS1 decided when he was 2 that he wanted to wear big boy pants and we had accidents every day for the next 18mths and it is only now that he is 4.5 that I don't have to remind him to go to the loo (having said that though he got up to do a wee during dinner tonight and his pants were wet). With DS2 I left it until he was almost 3 and then just went for it one day with 2 mishaps since (both poos though!!) Definately don't be in a hurry - i think the earlier you try the harder it is. I think you should leave it now for at least a month and try again - if he wants to.
