Baby gets wet despite wearing nappy at night? HELP

Hello.
Our 7mth baby Huey manages to soak himself at night despite the nappy.
It seems to come up over the top so it soaks his front, then of course it soaks his sheet as well so at 3am we are changing the lot.

Anyone got any advice on how to stop this? We make sure winky is pointing down, tucking the flaps hard in place, pulling it up around his belly button so he looks all Simon Cowell...but still gets wet Sad

Cheers

I wouldn't use active fit for overnight as they are less bulky to allow more movement. Baby dry have more to them than active fit

Tried a maternity pad, didnt work, gutted. It was all glued in nicely in place into the nappy (using the glue the pad had on its back).
It looked like it was going to be great but no luck.
Tonight trying a 4 in a 5 just for the hell of it...

Have you tried a different brand?
Sometimes different nappies suit different babies so some are good for tall skinny babies others are better for chunkier babies.
We've never got on with pampers, find asda are ok but Tesco or boots works best for us. I'd try smallest pack size of a different brand and see how you go. You shouldn't need to use maternity pads or double up nappies.
If you've tried every brand and tried a size up / size down then I guess that's your only option now but if you've not tried other brands might be worth it.

Have you definitely unfolded the bits that go round the tops of the legs?

Dry.
With a 4 in a 5 he was dry. Not ideal I know but a relief not be changing out bedding at 3am ! Smile

Try the pampers baby dry - they are made for soaking up more at night and get in a + for better absorbency?

Agree with the active fit/baby dry argument. We use active fit during the day but baby dry at night because they're more substantial. I'm not sure that active fit is really necessary until they're moving around a lot.

You need baby dry. Known as "night nappies" in our house. Active fit for day, baby dry for night.

We did have a stage with DD2 where she leaked, even with baby dry, but that's because she slept on her side I think.

Hello
Just to report back on this. Having great success with two nappies, a 5 pulled over a size 4.
There is a hassle to this but it's working very well and much less hassle than changing his clothes and bedsheets in the middle of the night!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions..here's what we tried.

  1. Went up a size in nappy....dry and wet; random result.
  2. Adult panty liner....again random, gutted was sure this would work.
  3. Pampers active fit....useless, dont understand these..ok they are slim for activity but no absorbency! LIDL's own worked way better than these.
  4. Adjust willy in nappy, check not too tight around waist.....random.
  5. Two nappies on .....about 90% success....1 in 10 nights a little bit gets astray.

Addendum!
There is a quite a long timeline to the above so a couple of points i thought Id best mention if someone is trying this...

Huey is moving to a lot more solid food and as a result is drinking less at night.
He is also waking less in the night (less wriggling, picked up and shifted less) so the nappies aren't being subjected to so much movement.
This last point is key i think. The wee isn't in the bigger nappy, i think the outer nappy largely just holds the smaller one in place better, hence no wetting.

Cheers
